I will really miss Jay Leno as the host. His monologues were IMHO far superior to those of any other late-night hosts. He appealed to all ages. You didn't have to know that Candy Crush is a video game or the lyrics to a rap song to "get" his comedy, which was classic. When he did his Rodney Dangerfield-style quickies, it was entirely appropriate that the band played bits of "Hooray for Hollywood" between each rapid-fire joke. He was not only funny but a classy gentleman. His only fault: He didn't have Hugh on as one of his "favorite people" these past two weeks. I hope it was just Hugh's schedule that prevented his saying goodbye to Jay. Ah, well. I wish Jimmy Fallon well--partly for selfish reasons: I want my daughter to stay employed! Ellen

Ellen,
I agree with you through and through. I kept hoping till the last minute, but when I saw Oprah I knew that was it. I hoped Hugh would at least send a videotaped message...
Your last comment was really intriguing... How does your daughter's work have to do with Jimmy Fallon?
Just wondering...

She's a writer on Fallon's show and is transitioning along with all other staff to the "Tonight Show."

So he did send a message! But those crummy editors chose to cut Hugh's contribution from the final version of the aired show. How maddening!
Thanks, Jo.

If she's anything like her mamma, she's got a way with words, and she's got great wit!!! Congratulations! Thanks, Jo, for the link to the taped messages, but... I can't believe they cut out Hugh and Sly... WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??? <awww> WE are probably more upset than Hugh is, but what the heck? smiley-signs066 <boo> <rant> <tantrum> Alma

LOL, thanks, Alma. We're just glad she's doing what she likes and carving out a solid career.
But I'm still miffed about the non-appearance of Hugh's snowy bit on the show. How cute was that!!
