Watching Peter perform Rio is the best mood enhancer out there. I don't know who enjoyed it more - Peter or members of the audience.

The other day while shopping I heard "Don't Cry Out Loud" being played in the background. I was reminded of the song which follows it on Peter's Live at Carnegie Hall album; "You Haven't Heard the Last of Me."
No, we haven't.
Remembering Peter on his birthday.

I watched a few videos of Peter in performance yesterday in honor of what would’ve been his 76th birthday. As Hugh put it during an interview in the early preview days of TBFO, Peter left us “way too soon.”

He's the best!
76? Wow. Somebody get out the trombones! Keep shakin' those maracas, Peter. We miss you.

Missing Peter Allen on his birthday. Seems appropriate that "The Music Man" is opening on the anniversary of Peter's birth.

Thanks for posting "Ain't I Somethin" from the Macy's parade. What a fun song. Too bad he didn't keep that song as his opening number, but it wasn't getting much of a reaction from the audience during the previews and so, he wrote "When I Get My Name in Lights" instead. I wish there is a video clip of him singing "Ain't I Somethin" from the musical. The NY Public Library has a copy of the VHS from 1988 that contains him singing the song, but you have to go there in-person to watch it. However, I have a demo of Peter singing it from 1984 or 1985, and an audience demo from the first preview night in October 1988.

Hearing Arthur's Theme played yesterday as part of a Burt Bacharach tribute brought to mind Peter's story about their group's Oscar nomination for the song. Long (typical Peter story) short - what would they do if the Academy was only willing to award one statuette for the song? Cutting it into four parts wasn't an acceptable solution because, as Peter said, "Burt wanted the same part I wanted!" Thankfully, the Academy came through with an Oscar for each of them. Well-deserved. Happy Birthday, Peter! Carol

I just noticed the date a few minutes ago and I am also remembering Peter on his birthday.
Addition, 6 hours later - After all these years, I decided to search again for the Australian two-part movie, Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door and found it on Amazon FreeVee. Seems like it was supposed to happen on Peter's birthday.
