What an amazing life she had. I've been sad all morning I still watch ST movies a few times each year. My mother made me undergo hours of torture to have Shirley Temple curls when I was a little girl. I did win a ST lookalike contest and was Little Miss Holyoke during my curls era too...a dubious title at best! I have a couple pix from back then, if I ever get them scanned I'll share so you can all have a nice laugh! RIP Shirley Temple Black, a truly gifted, talented girl who grew into a brilliant and kind woman who gave much to the world-a true original! Sue

Shades of "Toddlers and Tiaras," Sue--I would love to see your pre-Honey Boo Boo-era contest photos. I enjoyed watching Shirley Temple's old movies on TV. When I was a very young child, I used to look forward to her singing "Dreams Are Made for Children" at the end of every episode of her anthology series, SHIRLEY TEMPLE'S STORYBOOK. What probably saved her from turning into that era's version of a Miley Cyrus or a Lindsay Lohan was her essentially getting out of the industry while still very young and building a fulfilling private life that included a happy home and eventually public service. Classy lady. Ellen
