I had to watch this "in pieces" because I found it quite overwhelming. Although I was never in the "hub" as these men were, I was in NYC and the devastation of AIDS was pervasive (especially in the theatrical community) during the early 1980s. The fear and frustration were palpable. I thought the movie captured that sensation quite well. I also though Julia Roberts was sadly miscast. I never saw it on stage. Would anyone who saw the play care to make some comparisons? Aside: Very nice to see Jim Parsons as someone other than Sheldon. I'm getting to like him even more. Sorry I missed his turn in Harvey - seems like a great role for him. HBO's website for The Normal Heart
