She grew up wanting to be a Broadway baby -- if I remember right, she went to the Professional School for children that prepares gifted kids for careers on Broadway or similar professions. Here, Scarlett Johansson talks about the Great White Way and about another Broadway Baby -- www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=407360026955 Too bad SUNSET BOULEVARD seemed like the perfect movie musical about Hollywood that never got made Years ago, Hugh could have been Joe and Scarlett could have been Betty! Ellen,
Yes, Michael has been talking about Mack and Mabel for sometime now. Glad to know that it is taking a bow at the famed Chichester Festival, where he starred with Imelda Staunton in the award-winning Sweeney Todd.
Hope it does come to Broadway!
I do remember that you have mentioned it at some point as one of your favorite musicals or musical scores. Am I right?
At the very least, there will probably be a cast recording of the show. It is so much easier to get a cast recording over there because it ( the cast recording) is not as expensive to produce as it does on Broadway.

Yes, MACK AND MABEL is one of my favorites. I remember being happily surprised when Hugh sang one of its signature ballads, "I Won't Send Roses," at one performance of his one-man show tryout in Toronto. He had heard the band playing it, liked it, learned it and decided to sing it at a show. I can picture him as Mack Sennett, too. I don't believe he performed it any other time during the Toronto run.
Too bad he didn't incorporate it into the final version of BACK ON BROADWAY.
