I did not want to diss the nature of the Deadpool interpretation (which seems to be one-note but effective) in the movies...and chose to describe the more complex character of Wolverine, which needed strong acting portrayal. Mr. Donoso actually LIKED my reply.

I recently caught Inglorious Basterds on cable TV.
Was his character also gay?
If so, then Hugh could play that as well.

I am still annoyed that the FERRARI role went to Driver...
Of course, he had to forego it because of The Music Man ( although we will never know if he had asked Mann to delay filming of Ferrari until he had completed his commitment). Had Mann said YES, would Hugh have rethought his involvement as the film Wolverine & approach Reynolds to let him join Deadpool3?
and today I caught (again) ANGELS & DEMONS ( the forerunner story of DA VINCI CODE)...a role that author Dan Brown has said that he imagined Hugh Jackman in the role when he first wrote it.
Also, there are occasional mentions of how PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEANS' " Jack" ( played by Depp ) was inspired by Hugh Jackman ( according to original storywriter Aussie Stuart Beattie).
Key roles that would have been gems in Hugh Jackman's career.
On the other hand, Wolverine was not origjnally his role. He fought tooth and nail for Les Miserables ( even if Mackintosh originally wanted Alfie Boe for the film role). He was the first one cast as Keller Dover...and it went to others before it landed back to Hugh. Brad Pitt had Fountain his pocket but Hugh got the role when he volunteered to Aronofsky in its 2nd iteration. Australia's DROVER was first offered to Crowe...until it landed on Hugh.
One thing, though -- the roles which landed on his lap gave him an opportunity to work with auteurs Nolan, Aronofsky, Villeneuve & Oscar winner Hooper and Oscar nominee Luhrmann.
The Son allowed him to work with Oscar winner Zeller...but unfortunately it was a misunderstood film by critics and some audiences...but he has been recognized by the Golden Globes and the recent audience reviews. Logan (deriving from his original Wolverine association) was directed by Oscar nominee Mangold
What do you think of the tradeoffs?

To be honest, I think this is where film has an advantage over the theatre. It can take advantage of other effects to add to the acting strength. Like the silence in Prisoners ending ( did you or did Loki hear the whistle?)/ the closeups as he faced dying in LesMis (did your heart break as he sang to Cosette & as he asked God to bring himself home?)/ the unearthly effect of ascending to the star in TheFountain/ the clearly-heard heartbreaking sobs of TheSon/ the misty-eyed provocation of the finale in the Logan closeups!

Hugh is a constant learner. His training in dramatic theatre & in journalism probably feeds the desire to learn more about how films can provide insights on the human condition... as well as the techniques that filmmakers do to heighten interest in movies.

I would have wanted to enroll in that class but since I was not a student of filmmaking, I would not qualify then. But this would have been an interesting experience - Hugh not only being an avid film buff but he is articulate enough so classmates would have enjoyed his contributions. I did not know that he divulged his identity to his classmates - that would be a little intimidating to some of them The one who commented on his contribution ( Rocio Tambunting) is from here - a fellow countrywoman. I guess she went to Barnard, a sister school of Columbia ( where Prof Innsdorf is a professor of film).. Jo

Not exactly related but I just saw a clip of an interview with Jimmy Fallon during the pandemic. It seems that during that time, also in the pandemic, he enrolled in a zoom dance class -- and found out he had 70 teenage girl classmates.
LOL!
