Long story short, my Dad passed away peacefully on Weds. January 6th.

Oh, Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. No matter how long, happy and fulfilled a loved one's life has been, it's still a great loss for the ones left behind. May time help you in your grief and may all the happy memories prevail to help you through.

Thanks guys. He had a good long life (would have been 90 April 17th) and really wasn't sick (with COPD) until Dec. 2012, then broke his hip in March of 2013. I brought him down to GA to be near me in Assisted Living and I'm grateful he was well enough to have Christmas & dinner with us on the 25th. He had the plaid flannel shirt on that my son gave him for Christmas when he was taken via ambulance to my hospital on Dec. 31st at 5:30 pm. They called me and I was at work, but fortunately we weren't busy so I was able to be with him in the ER. I kept thinking he'd get better and be able to go back to assisted living but on oxygen, but it was not to be. (He also had a bad heart murmur and his kidneys were failing) He was able to be woken up enough to shake his head yes that he wanted the tube out and just let him go, so that's what we did. My 2 kids (who will be 29 tomorrow) and Mom were there too.

I am just glad I had him down here with me since June 6, 2013 and not way up in Ohio. Today is Kevin & Lauren's (my twins) 29th birthday and it will be sad not to have him with us to celebrate.
