The Chinese New Year is coming ( beginning February 8, 2016) -- and it is the year of the (Fire) Monkey!
Hope this augurs well for Hugh's professional career!

I have just found out ( via CNN-Philippines, not CNN Worldwide) that the oldest CHINATOWN in the world is located right here in Manila!
Chinese immigrants came and settled here centuries ago. Quite a few Filipinos can trace part Chinese ancestry.
Is it fun to go to Chinatown -- of course! It is a mini-HongKong but with with some very old buildings and infrastructures. To eat - various types of Chinese cuisine -- from simple food ( like dumplings, bean-based sweets, fresh vegetable egg-rolls, noodles ) to the most awesome choices (even exotic ones like abalone, shark's fin soup, peking duck, etc)
To look around for Chinese decorative arts -- from furniture to unique jewelry to vases and to semi- precious stone sculptures
To shop for Chinese-inspired apparel ...and a lot of good-luck bracelets and pendants...you can find the most unique ones at very affordable prices.
To buy fresh produce -- fruits and veggies and others ( including lychees and persimmons when in season) .
To look for many practical household items and even office supplies.
To watch the lion dance and the fireworks on New Year's Eve for the Chinese New Year, if you have a chance.
To visit a landmark Roman Catholic Church in the midst of Chinatown - centuries old and very historical! You find it at the end of the street whose entrance proudly displays a very huge and colorful Chinese street arch! What a contrast in cultures!
Kung hei fat choi!
