I've been monitoring what's been happening over there on CNN.
I just thought I should share something which devastated our country with the Yolanda Typhoon.
We used to ignore STORM SURGES before because they were relatively harmless in the past. But during the devastating Yolanda ( Haian) Typhoon, the storm surges were primarily what caused the loss of lives into the five digit levels. The storm surges became like tsunami waves which rose to a very high level...moved swiftly inland...and swept everything in its path. No one can outrun them once it hits inland. I have heard that some residents over there have refused to evacuate (maybe because the winds were not as strong as predicted) but the storm surges should not be ignored. We lost a lot of lives especially those living close to the shore or in low-lying areas.
Take care and be safe, everyone!
I want to thank you once more for the expression of concern that you gave us when Yolanda hit us tragically.
