I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LOVE HIM is of course the iconic (romantic) song in this musical. But there are so many others that appeal separately on their own -- *Could we start again, please -- I did not discover the beauty of this piece until years later. *Hosanna -- the quintessential welcome song! *The Overture -- some people think it is one of the best ever written *GETHSEMANE -- the showstopper! I saw the movie but it did not register too well with me, maybe because it seemed so dated Then I saw the London revival with Steve Balsamo -- and it was a more modern take. I finally got a copy of the DVD of the revival version, but with Glenn Carter as Jesus. I do like to watch it every now and then. Of course it has been controversial because of the subject matter -- but fans say it is not meant to be a religious piece ( GETHSAMANE itself goes against the biblical interpretation - as the musical portrays an angry Jesus) but a secular retelleing of some past events, set to music.
