How awful. Carrie's passing is a huge loss, and now this. My heart goes out to Billie Lourd; losing her mom and grandmother back-to-back must be unbearable.
I grew up watching and loving Debbie Reynolds movies, but Singing in the Rain is in a class by itself. Can you imagine keeping up with the likes of Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly and looking as great as she did?
What a year. Carol

And - she was only 19 when she made Singing in the Rain. Wow.

The whole thing seems like a bad soap opera, but unfortunately life does sometimes resemble one. How awful, too, for Todd Fisher, losing his sister and then his mom.
I loved Carrie's WISHFUL DRINKING play at Studio 54 several years ago. Her wit, intelligence and likability really shined through.
I remember reading in an interview with Gene Kelly a long time ago that he rehearsed Debbie, then having little dance experience, for something like 20 hours straight until her feet bled to get her step-perfect in the "Good Morning" number set to film the next day. She never gave up, determined to give it her all and then some. What troupers, both.
May Carrie and Debbie rest in peace.
Ellen

And - she was only 19 when she made Singing in the Rain. Wow. And Carrie was 19 when she filmed the first Star Wars. Nancy
