It looks like the Black and white version in BluRay has been confirmed by James Mangold! comicbook.com/2017/03/08/logan-director-confirms-black-and-white-version-is-coming/James Mangold has a great sense of aesthetic. We saw the many photographic black and white images of the characters and some scenes from LOGAN while he was filming the movie. I think they even gave a book of black and white photographs to the media people who were invited to the first 40-minutes of screentime early during the promotion campaign for the movie. I wonder when we can expect the release of the BluRay/DVDs, in both color edition and black&white version? Jo

The DVD/BluRay Disc will be released on May 23, 2017. Here are some details from Amazon -- The early release date is unexpected -- *The movie is still playing in cinemas now ( albeit with a very much reduced theater count). Is the movie going to wind down its theatrical release very soon? *DVD/BluRay discs are usually released after a much longer period from release date. Could it be because -- *Fox has been vocal in its support of early streaming ( VOD) and a shorter window for video releases, to be competitive with new distribution systems such as Amazon and Netflix products? *A bootlegged copy has been made available online, although someone has said that the Korean subtitles could not be erased. Another interesting issue -- *Mangold once said that he is working on a Black-and-white version the movie for the DVD/BluRay release. Will he and Fox go ahead with those plans? It will enhance the film-noirish atmosphere of the movie and may attract a number of XMen or superhero fans to such a different presentation format. Moi, included *Artistically speaking, Mangold has shown his preference for the Black-and-white format of images, as shown on the images he uploaded before the release of the movie. I understand that a coffee table book of the black-and-white images were given to the attendees of the special screenings which featured the first 40-minutes from the movie. It's not only a great keepsake but it also highlights the atmosphere of realism that one gets from seeing the movie. On a Director's Cut -- *I wonder what kind of director's commentary will accompany the DVD/BluRay? Mangold was asked if there is a director's cut - and his reply was that the film itself is the director's cut! It looks like Fox gave him complete leeway in the making of the movie and even his participation in the unusual but highly effective marketing campaign. Remember how astonished but amazed people were to hear Johnny Cash's HURT introduced the first trailer? Mangold is known for his WALK THE LINE movie, a biopic of John Cash. Jo

It looks like the much-requested Black-and-white edition of LOGAN is underway --
I wonder if it is going to be available in online stores like AMAZON? Or will it be part of the regular set of BluRay/DVD/ ?

Btw, there's no separate DIRECTOR'S CUT -- Mangold says the movie is the director's cut.

This was shared by someone on the SuperHeroHype forum -- Although Mangold has confirmed that the Black-and-white edition is coming " very soon", this film noir version is not yet listed on Amazon. Maybe there will be confirmation of release outlets also soon?

A filmsite shares the plans to release a black and white ( fashionably called " noir") version of the LOGAN BluRay edition. movieweb.com/logan-black-white-noir-version-release/It poses this interesting question -- If that happens -- I wish I could see it! Btw, Amazon has already announced a May 23, 2017 release date of the regular home video ( BluRay/DVD). Jo

I think that because there is no alternative DIRECTOR'S CUT, in lieu, James Mangold is giving us a NOIR ( aka Black and White) version of LOGAN! Someone kiddingly said that the black and white version will not include the color of RED, which spilled so much in the "chrome" ( full color palette) theatrical version Jo

Reposting this news here -- There will be a theatrical release of the movie in black and white -- LOGAN Noir. comicbook.com/marvel/2017/04/28/logan-black-white-release-date/ I doubt it will be released outside of the USA. Otherwise, I would be there, too! EDIT: Mangold confirms that it will be a theatrical release on May 16, but only in the USA! Jo

I wonder if that is the book of photographs ( uploaded on that site called @wponx ) that was given to media when they attended the first 40-minute footage from the movie? Or is the book an extended version so it can include the rest of the movie?
Wolverine fanboys are going to get crazy with all these choices and offerings ( I went crazy when they released Les Miserables and got everything - LOL!). The book is nice...but so are the postcards representing a retrospective of Hugh's Wolverine tenure ( with the new art image on the back).
But my best choice is probably in my memory cells -- I cannot get over how pleased I was to see the movie in IMAX (2x). I had seen it first in a special cinema and thought that it would already be an excellent screening. I was not prepared to find that the IMAX screening would be such an exhilarating experience - the cinematography and the drama enhanced so much more!
The BuRay/DVD is set for release on May 23. Why May 23? Just like how they used to upload the black and white images at 10:23 all the time, people are speculating that May 23 is another reference to X-23!

A lot of people are disappointed that LOGAN Noir can only be seen in a few places, mostly in Texas ( I can understand the choice, because the story does start at the Texas border to Mexico -- part of the atmosphere) -- but I hope FOX can work out a wider distribution plan ( via cinema chains), as it is only for one night.
Re the early release of the home video ( May 16/May 23) -- a lot of people are pleasantly surprised that it is being made available earlier than usual --
*Could it be to catch up with unofficial downloads ( such as via some sites notorious for bootlegs) as soon as possible?
*Given the high critical acclaim and box office success, are they targeting the segments of the market who were unable to go to a cinema to watch it, for one reason or another, but were impressed by the accolades?
*Assuming there is proper parental guidance, to reach the younger fanboys who are below 16 but could not see it because there was no one to take them?
*Or is FOX now, as articulated by CEO Snider in many forums, moving fast with the evolving film distribution trends ( i.e., shortening the period from theatrical distribution to home video)?
