Maybe because the focus of much of the publicity was the trapeze act, featuring two former Disney production stars?
Remember how I thought there was too much emphasis on Zac and Zendaya in highway billboards and street standee posters?

Captured most of Hugh's excellent singing moments, except maybe his two soliloquys should have also been there -- Valjean's Soliloquy from Les Miserables and Billy Bigelow's Soliloquy from Carousel ( Back on Broadway version).

What will add to the showbiz drama after the movie opened were the reactions of critics...and how audiences defied those opinions... and showed how the world fell in love with this musical! And in about 1-2 weeks time, hopefully ( and crossing our fingers), the audiences in America may show how this movie will end up as the 3rd largest grossing movie musical!
Lest we forget -- a side story could be how the musical score became a charts champion!

One major characteristic that disntinguishes THE GREATEST SHOWMAN from the more recent movie musicals ( say in the last 10 years) is the compelling message from practically each of the songs in the movie to get up and dance. From THE GREATEST SHOWMAN to COME ALIVE to THE OTHER SIDE to THIS IS ME to FROM NOW ON... end even A MILLION DREAMS, REWRITE THE STARS, and TIGHTROPE ( with their slower beats) encourage people not only to emulate the singing but to express themselves with dancing or any rhythmic movements ( like tapping your feet )! Even when NEVER ENOUGH is sang by others, the cover may include some expressive body language ( remember the little girl who sang the song, complete with Rebecca's unique body language?) Some of the other movie musicals may have included a few dance numbers but did people really emulate those dance steps. And you can't really dance to Les Miserables or Into the Woods -LOL! BEAUTY AND THE BEAST has a few outstanding dance scenes...but some of the songs did not relate to dance numbers. That is why THE GREATEST SHOWMAN will likely share top honors soon with the 3rd highest grossing movie musical (Danny and Sandy's GREASE  ) JO |
