It is with great sadness that I have to inform the board that my dear friend Gisela, passed away earlier today while she was attending Comic Con in San Diego. I had read on a couple of websites that a Twilight fan had died while on line to get into the convention center. A mutual friend contacted me tonight and confirmed that it was Gisela. I'm in total shock. I can't believe it.
Many of you know her as a devoted Hugh fan, and she was also a devoted Twilight fan. Some of you met her in San Francisco and Toronto and before that, during the run of A Steady Rain.
She and I first met at the stage door of TBFO in Australia, in Sydney, in 2006. We hit it off right away, and became very close friends. We had many things in common in addition to Hugh. She was a warm, funny, generous, supportive person. And she was always there for me. She lived in Kingston, New York, and would come down to the city anytime to see Hugh, or just to hang out together.
I can't believe it. I miss her so much!

Dearest Cheryl, my thoughts and prayers are with you her dear friend, and with her family through this difficult time. I'm so glad that your lives touched to experience the wonderful friendship you had. I know you must miss her terribly, but she'll still be there in every precious memory you both shared. I send big hugs to you and to those of you out there who knew Gisela. God bless.

Cheryl,
It is such shocking and sad news! It must be such a painful loss because of the circumstances.
I do remember that you introduced me to her at the Curran stage door in San Francisco, which was just over a year ago. I also remember your saying that you met her in Australia -- was that in Sydney? Did you also happen to introduce her to me then, when you came up to the front to say Hello on Opening Night? Somehow, I have that vague recollection, too.
My thoughts go to her loved ones!
Jo

Nevaeh and Jo, thank you so much for your kind thoughts. Nevaeh, what you wrote was very comforting to me. Thank you again.
Jo, Gisela and I met at the stage door (actually it was a gate) after the closing performance in Sydney. I had chatted with Hugh for a minute, and then she and I started talking after he left. We found out that we both came from New York, and we just hit it off, and became good friends after that.

I was very saddened to learn this awful news from you, Cheryl. I remember her as intelligent and fun. We chatted at various Hugh-related stage doors, and she told a group of us dining together at Smith's all about Twilight, which I had barely heard of at the time. What a terrible, senseless loss. My sympathies to her family and all who knew her.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Although I didn't know her, I do know that the sudden loss of a close friend can not be taken lightly. I hope that your cherished memories of the times you had together will bring you a small measure of comfort during this difficult time. Sue

I remember when Gisela posted here. Many of us were together in the same audiences in Sydney, San Francisco, Toronto, and NYC. I can't recall if I ever met her, but I feel a kinship with all of the fans that come together to enjoy the entertainers they love. Gisela went to Comic Con to enjoy the TWILIGHT panel. She was there for something she loved. It's heartbreaking that she lost her life, and my heart goes out to all of her family and friends. Rest in peace, Gisela.

Cheryl, I am so sorry to see this. I JUST read about this morning. I would read Gisela’s posts on FB about how excited she was to go to Comic Con. Then, I read the headline quickly about the accident. She crossed my mind but I never imagined the story was about her. It was such a pleasure to meet her and spend time with you and Stan in SF. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thanks so much, Nevaeh, for asking how I'm doing. I'm ok, I guess. Still can't quite believe it.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I will pass them along to her family.

Sending condolences Cheryl. I had a couple of very nice stage door conversations with Gisela in Toronto and on Broadway.
