It looks like the new practice is to pre-sell the digital media ( Blu Ray/DVD) copies as soon as a movie is released.
The BluRay/DVD and related media are already available for pre-order at Amazon.

It's # 16 among BluRay sales on Amazon...and # 22 overall for Movies and TV! It is competing very well with eminent releases ( they peak closer to release dates) and bestselling movies already out on video! Looks like the GREATEST SHOWMAN mania is spreading  Jo

Hope Amazon does not get another backlog, as it has for the regular soundtrack album and the vocal sheet compilation.
Will the BluRay release be also close to this date ( Vinyl format for soundtrack for release on March 2)?

Amazon has indicated that the BluRay/DVD of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN will be released on March 6, 2018.
Hope the is no stockout for this release. The CD is still on a Stockout notice.

If you are a customer of Amazon, you may have noticed that the BLuRay release of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN seems to have stalled and it was not being offered on its product page even on a Pre-order basis. I contacted Amazon twice via chat and then via email to bring up the issue. As the customer rep could not provide definite answers except to say that they are unable to assure me that the BluRay can be released at the same time as the DVD release. The matter was escalated to the proper Amazon Dept -- and I was informed by email that there was a supplier problem which was brought about significantly by the "overwhelming demand" for the item. They assured me that they will act on the issue immediately.
A day later, I receive an email to let me know that the BluRay is now available on a Pre-order basis but that I should act on the offer if I want to place another order, because --
In case anyone is interested, especially for foreign orders ( if you have a Region 1 player) as ordering from other USA sources is not usually available for shipment to international addresses.

THE GREATEST SHOWMAN is currently # 1 on Amazon's list of sales/orders of all MOVIES AND TV! The most unusual thing is that there is still no official release date ( at least on Amazon) and it is all on a pre-order basis. It outranks all other released videos including Oscar frontrunners Dunkirk and Darkest Hour in terms of current orders
Also, I have never seen such a highly-ranked review on Amazon - 4.9 of 5 stars! Based on 162 readers reviews ( and some are very detailed).
The DVD version is currently ranked # 5 of all MOVIES AND TV.

I wonder if FOX has decided to extend the screening schedule at cinemas? Or...also, there was a time when one of the biggest suppliers ( Amazon) had problems re inventory stockouts for the CD...and later on, seemed to also have a logistical problem with the pre-orders for the Blu-Ray ( it shot up to # 1 despite the unspecified release date) and they took out the BluRay format out of the Product Page? Was there a logistical problem with possible compliance with the demand, which was totally unexpected? I have also read quite a few tweets saying that when they checked their local stores, even Walmart, the item was sold out for a while...and had to rely on online ordering. It's like a deluge, but what a happy deluge for Hugh! And Fox! And for all the rest whoever was a great showman/showwoman in the film project! Btw... by today ( Saturday), according to FORBES, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN will become the all-time box office champion of original movie musicals in the DOMESTIC market ( USA/Canada) -- of all time indeed!!      |
