They're releasing the home video ( 4K/BluRay/DVD) in the UK -- and they almost declared a holiday ( many are expected to be on leave today, as some have speculated ) --

Did you get the BluRay or the DVD version? I have just found out that the DVD version does not include (among the EXTRAS) the long feature on THE SONGS. That segment shows the work done for each song - the evolution - and in many cases shows Hugh testing the songs over a period of time ( via different workshops) -- his hairstyle goes from very close-cropped to normal and with/without facial hair. I thought they included everything among the extras.

I do not know if it is a technical limitation not to accommodate that long portion...or hopefully it is not that they just wanted to withhold it to encourage sales of the more expensive disc. But given the repeat patronage of the movie -- I think Fox should have been generous enough to share everything with fans.

Hope it is not because Fox is trying to make money to the last dollar on this movie

I have also been baffled why we get standard formats for CDs -- but do not have the same privilege for discs!

The musical film, which became a long-running smash hit at cinemas across the country throughout the first months of 2018, was easily the best-seller last week when it was released on home media.

The film flogged an enormous 497,000 copies in just seven days, according to the Official Charts Company.

That was more than enough to nudge Jumanji down to No2 and Star Wars: The Last Jedi down to No3.

On Thursday, midway through the sales week, the movie was reported to be outselling the rest of the Top 100 combined.



The film has had huge global success

The 497,000 debut makes it the second fastest-selling DVD and Blu-ray release of 2018 so far, of which 329,000 had been sold in its first three days alone.

The fastest-seller of the year to date is still Star Wars Episode 8, which shunted 582,000 in its opening frame.
Other new releases this week include Batman Ninja at No4, All The Money In The World at No5 and Molly’s Game at No7.
Worldwide, The Greatest Showman has nabbed $432 million at the box office - not bad for a film that was written off upon its release with a $21 million opening weekend and a 56% score on Rotten Tomatoes.


Its soundtrack album is still hovering at the top end of the charts: in fact this week it is still at No2 after 21 weeks on the chart.

If they had to make a choice which special features should have been prioritized for the DVD, I think fans would have appreciated it very much if the feature on THE SONGS ( found only in the BluRay edition) was selected instead of the other special features as a top choice. As the songs from the musical score were likely one of the, if not the most, appealing draws of the movie -- it would have been a treat for fans to see the evolution of the universally-hailed songs!

It's official - The Greatest Showman is the UK's fastest-selling digital download movie of all-time.

The musical starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zac Efron amassed 348,497 digital sales in 23 days based on data collected by the Official Charts Company and Futuresource Consulting.

Adding the 496,993 copies on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD that were sold in the movie's first week of physical release, this leads to a huge 1.82% box office conversion.

With close to 500,000 sales, The Greatest Showman soared to Number 1 on the UK's Official Video Chart, outselling the rest of the Top 100 combined, making it the second fastest-selling DVD/Blu-ray of 2018 so far.

The Greatest Showman has been a runaway success at the box office and the high street, plus its soundtrack album is the best-selling album of 2018 so far. The Motion Picture Cast Recording has spent 15 non-consecutive weeks at Number 1, is eyeing a 16th, and matched the longest consecutive run at the top for 30 years

If you're okay with the English version and cannot source it in your country, the best bet is to get together with co-fans and order multiple copies using the speediest delivery option ( the cost can be distributed among the number of copies).


If China and South Korea have heard about the tremendous success of the movie musical now, maybe they should have gotten out more to see the movie when it was on theatrical release in those countries. Those 2 countries had relatively disappointing runs at the cinemas.

Can you believe that 6 months after the movie release and almost 3 months after the home video release that the DVD version and the BluRay version are still top-ranked at Amazon ( # 2 and # 3, respectively) for MOVIES AND TV?

I rechecked because I thought the prices might have come down, in case I would be interested to get a few more copies for presents...but the prices are still the original ones, suggesting that they continue to sell very strongly.

It is outselling BLACK PANTHER which was released in 2018.

The Greatest Showman has broken the record for selling the most digital copies in the UK.

According to the half year 2018 report from the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE), the musical starring Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron sold 1.4m units in 2018, with around 33% of these digital (466,000).

The Greatest Showman has since become the first title to surpass digital sales of half a million.

In the first half of 2018 around 38m units were sold overall in the UK, with 22.4% of these digital – up from 15.5% in 2017 and 11.4% in 2016.

Overall sales figures for the same period last year (Jan-June 2017) were not available, so it is unclear if digital sales have grown in real terms. 118m units were sold overall in 2016 including in Q3 and Q4.


The further top-selling titles of 2018 so far are below, including both physical and digital sales:

The Greatest Showman - more than 1.4 million

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - more than 1.03 million

Paddington 2 - more than 928,000 (inclusive of Paddington 1 and 2 box sets)
