Interesting article on this year's MET GALA by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum.

LOL - looks like the Hollywood interlopers and the celebrity/fame chasers are not liking how the Ball is handled, with Anna Wintour in full charge
If I remember in the past, it was usually a New York social register type of event... until movie stars and those who chase fame wanted to be part of it. It used to be mostly a New York kind of fund-raising type of event.
I think Hugh and Deb attend because --
*Hugh is friends with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. She is in full charge -- veto power and everything ( although there was some buzz that she might retire chairing the event after this year)! But she and Hugh/Deb were once seen at the Roger Federer Box at Wimbledon ( she is a tennis fan, esp of Roger F). She has also been seen at the tryout show of Back on Broadway in Toronto. She has also sponsored NYC premieres of Hugh movies.
*Hugh, in return, joined in her other fashion industry event ( even if he was doing A STEADY RAIN that evening). He has also performed at the Costume Ball during or after the run of TBFO.
*The Jackmans are also New York City residents since late 2008...and also during his run in TBFO. They are involved in some community events or advocacies ( Isn't Hugh a patron of the Museum of Modern Art/Laughing Man is NYC-based, Harlem Academies is one of Hugh's advocacies, Deb is part of a New York women's group re the welfare of children if I am not mistaken, they also support some of the local advocacies such as those of Donna Karan, etc), so it is not surprising to see them mix with people who are engaged in events that promote some cultural/charity goals.
Interesting theme this year ( "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination")! There was some gossip that fashion ornaments using the cross as inspiration are already out of stock
Will Hugh and Deb attend this year?
