The new hashtag created by a fan who is trying to go against the tide of HughJackman hate messages. You are probably aware that Hugh is being vilified across social media and even on main media for having longtime friends Ivanka and Jared Kushner at his 50th birthday party, hosted at DonnaKaran's place.
We know the kind of man Hugh Jackman is and how he stands up for his beliefs, even if friendship ties may be affected ( such as when he performed in the Broadway concert for the Hillary Clinton campaign). We know that afterwards he was seen having lunch with Ivanka - it must not have been easy explaining to a friend why he could not play neutral in that situation... How sad that so many people believe that Hugh is not a good person or someone to support just because his wide range of friends include Ivanka and Jared. We do know that he is a longtime friend of humanitarian Donna Karan and he has also supported her humanitarian work for Haiti. Anna Wintour is also a friend. Both Donna and Anna were strong supporters of the Clinton campaign.
I have sent out a few twitter messages to offer information on the many ways by which Hugh Jackman has shown how he is an exemplary human being - for what he stands for and for his many advocacies.
Let's show support for Hugh! #supportforhugh

I have been very upset by this whole flap. I wasn't going to bring it up here, but since Jo has now initiated it, I feel maybe it will help my feelings by adding my two cents. I will not hide the fact that I detest the person who is my president. As much as I respect Hugh Jackman, that's how much I disrespect DJT. Anyone who follows Hugh closely can sense that on important issues he most certainly differs in opinion from the present administration. For example, Hugh has publicly championed the fight against Global Warming and has advocated marriage rights for all. The fact that he is a main voice behind the Global Citizen advocacy clearly indicates how far apart he stands from the president, who is, after all, a self-stated "non-globalist". I am so disappointed in so-called "fans" attacking Hugh, causing only more divisiveness in a country they supposedly want to see united. If a man can put political beliefs aside in order to maintain and be loyal to long-term friendships, I prefer to think that says something positive about that man. I really hope this blows over. He doesn't deserve this.

Take a look at this upload of the Q&A at the advance screening of The Front Runner at 92Y --
It gives us an even more definitive look at the kind of person and professional Hugh Jackman is.

Everyone on this forum knows what a fine man Hugh Jackman is. He and Deb work tirelessly to help so many who are in need. The simple fact is that wealthy New Yorkers move in the same social circles as other wealthy New Yorkers. Some, like Hugh, use their wealth and fame for the greater good; others, not so much. If evidence of illegal or immoral behavior comes to light, maintaining close ties might not be the wisest choice. Loyalty to one's friends is an admirable trait, unless it happens that those friends prove to be deeply flawed.
Hugh's incredible talent is surpassed only by his caring, generous spirit. Those who condemn him don't know very much about the man.

If we have social media accounts, such as Twitter, why not send messages of support to Hugh?

This is supposed to be a continuing troll of the Wolverine-Deadpool bromance -- but it does seem that Ryan Reynolds is showing support for Hugh and for his new movie. Hey, maybe even FOX ( by allowing the use of the FOX Deadpool film property) is showing its support of a competitor movie which features as lead one of its own biggest studio stars! And COLLIDER agrees that Ryan is boosting up Hugh and The Front Runner! collider.com/ryan-reynolds-hugh-jackman-front-runner-ad/Although of course it is also a parody/commentary on real-life negative political advertising! Hugh has also lent himself to projects that are socially-conscious -- I wonder what naysayers will say of the above?

It looks like the tide may already be turning *sigh of relief* *The social media backlash on Twitter seems to have abated ( for a while, he was losing followers there hour after hour...but it seems to be recovering now, albeit slowly but surely). I guess if they cannot rebut facts about Hugh --- and simply continue to diss him for his personal ties ---that is not going to win over achievements and earned reputation! *I rarely post on Twitter -- but for the first time pursued several tit-for-tats One quit me after he could no longer rebut what I had said about Hugh's many advocacy achievements ( he simply said GOODBYE!); another left it hanging while acknowledging that I was not giving an opinion ( as she was, on a flimsy conclusion on why Hugh should be shunned) and that I was simply narrating facts which are substantiated; and a third called my message of support to Hugh a "bot" statement...but retracted it formally after I shared Hugh's many advocacy goals and results ( even sent him the link to Hugh singing Million Dreams with the Harlem school kids)...and he eventually LIKED my final reply ( which was to thank him for acknowledging that he made a mistake in calling me a "bot"). *Learned a few things -- **A "bot" is a robot or an automaton **I did not know that the NAZI acronym had a "SOCIALIST" word as part of it... that is why I am careful putting ideological tags on people. Personally, I like the word "centrist". **I gurgled with laughter for a term that I have heard only now -- I did not know that millennials are like snowflakes sometimes. **Hugh has kept his cool, in the meantime, no matter how vicious or how irrational the attacks on him were **Some people kept repeating the same things over and over. Well, I was guilty of it, too ( Words like LaughingMan&fair trade/BroadwayCaresEquityFightsAids/HarlemVillageAcademies/GlobalCitizenConcerts at Central Park/HillaryCcampaignConcert/mixed-race children/kind&generous man/StandsUpForHisBeliefs)… My language may not have been young millennial but facts are facts, no matter how they are labelled. **I was open about not being American or living there but shared that the people outside are interested in America because of its leadership in geopolitics & economics! **I concluded that the RyanReynolds stinger on Hugh was actually a show of support. I also found it odd that he used a FOX property right ( to the character of Deadpool, albeit he posted as Canadian boy Ryan) to encourage people to see a competitor movie ( maybe he had an approving nod from FOX?)! **I also appreciated Richard Marx's show of support. **I think Anne Hathaway had carefully crafted her intro to tell the world what a very nice gentleman Hugh Jackman is! **In all these, Hugh was busy promoting THE FRONT RUNNER ( not just for box office appeal but for awards potential) and even picking up an award or two. I think the HollywoodFilmAwards became important ( so many favored personalities were there) despite the early cynicism towards an awards show that was sponsored by DickClarkProductions and not a formal award body. But the presence of Nicole K, Glenn C, even Brad P and Anne H as presenters, Timothy C, and of course awardee Hugh J gave it the starry and classy appeal! It was a learning experience for me. Jo

At this point in his career, Hugh Jackman is moving on very well! His talent and versatility are now well-recognized, especially after the trifecta portrayals in LOGAN/THE GREATEST SHOWMAN/THE FRONT RUNNER!
His profession is acting and performing and he has continued to impress on how the trajectory of his 20- year career keeps showing a very positive arc, if one is to do a regression analysis of his performance ratings! That he is one of the rare ones who can draw an audience simply on his screen or stage persona means he easily commands both mediumS with his talent and his much vaunted charisma! I am looking forward to even more impressive acting/performing accomplishments from him! The greatest miracle in his career is not Wolverine ( even if that iconic role did make him a household word) but the perseverance and extreme talent he applied to achieve the magic ( no less than that) that has been wrought throughout the world with THE GREATEST SHOWMAN -- because it is one that has brought so much JOY to people!
His next project BAD EDUCATION may turn out to be even more of a surprise as he is playing a much more complicated role here ( what surprise awaits those who may not be familiar at all with the theme and film treatment)
What a pity that some people have now publicly avowed never to see a Jackman project ever -- they will be missing seeing a performer on his arc towards achieving even greater artistic fulfillment!

Sad to say that there is renewed dissing of Hugh again on Twitter ( and marked decline in follower level) -- coinciding with the limited release of THE FRONT RUNNER and probably because of Election Day. Someone did challenge the allegations against Hugh and shared this info on the Jackmans philantrophy. www.insidephilanthropy.com/glitzy-giving/hugh-jackman.html

Variety itself, through its NY Bureau Chief Ramin Setoodeh, has put Hugh and Ian McKellen directly in the spotlight for their supposed working links with Bryan Singer ( now the subject of new allegations of sexual misconduct) --

Why did he not also cite Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, James Marsden, Anna Paquin, Famke Janssen, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Kelsey Grammar, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, etc, who have been part of an XMen movie directed by Bryan Singer ?? Why not cite Kevin Feige ( now Marvel Studios president), who was assistant to producer Lauren Shuler Donner for the first XMen film (which was directed by Bryan)? And what about Bryan's more recent screenwriter collaborator like Simon Kinberg? And for that matter, why not the whole FOX organization -- from Murdoch to then-president Tom Rothman down to the janitor who worked on the movie sets as well? Is Setoodeh just looking for click-baits? But is afraid to touch those very high up on the ladder? Tsk, tsk Jo

Someone observed ( Grace Randolph) that Rami Malek is also being maligned for his work in Bohemian Rhapsody ( which was mostly directed by Bryan Singer) because it is part of the Oscar smear campaign against Rami possibly winning for Best Actor!
Ha - has the Oscar campaigning gone to such low levels?? Put in as much negativity as possible... and let the most-positively-seen nominee win?!!
Maybe the AMPAS and the GoldenGlobes and the awards community in general should BAN any Oscar campaigning other than the FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ads! No other media (mass media or social media) use, no parties, no gifts, no favors!

Someone knowledgeable has blasted the rumorgerer for trying to destroy people's reputations unwarrantedly -- It's funny, but the first time I saw the photo - I immediately recognized Nicholas Hoult ( who played Beast) and figured these people with Hugh and Bryan are probably on a Fox plane for a location shoot for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Also, at that time when they were filming, Nicholas was supposed to be in a relationship with Jennifer Lawrence ( who was also part of the cast). Glad this guy straightens out the misconceptions. Check out the IMDB credentials of many of those young-looking actors and you'll note that they were either in their early to mid-'20s ( even late '20s). Also, the Hutch Parker mentioned in his tweet is the producer of many of the XMen movies, including Days of Future Past, The Wolverine, and Logan. During the shoot of Logan, he was the only Fox producer around ( Lauren Shuler Donner has been stricken with cancer) and shepherded the filming. He also joined Hugh et al at the Berlinale premiere of Logan. twitter.com/james77503562/with_repliesAnd yet some people are just ready to malign others without so much as evidence or proof. Hope he gets sued for libel! A woman tweeter asked why people like Hugh worked for Bryan when, as early as 1997, Entertainment Weekly had already published a gossipy article on Bryan. Hey, in 1997 Hugh was partly in Sunset Blvd which opened in 1996 ( not yet knowing that SB would open doors for him towards international stardom because of the Trevor Nunn connection)...and maybe starting work on his first 2 Aussie films/TV work. He would work in London for Oklahoma! from mid 1998 to mid-1999. He didn't even know about the XMen comics ( he initially thought it meant the band called The Uncanny XMen from Australia. Plus it was Patrick Whitesell who alerted him about a possible job opportunity in a film that was casting worldwide. Hugh was not even the first Wolverine hire. He only replaced Dougray Scott after they have already started filming. How people can just weave ridiculous click-baiters is beyond me! One of the madnesses that happen on social media
