What a legacy he leaves behind. He was arguably the most influential and successful Broadway musical director-producer of the last half of the 20th century. Among his credits: West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Company, A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures, Follies, Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera, the best revival of Showboat, and on and on. I had a lovely conversation with him near Carnegie Hall some years ago. I would like to see a theater renamed for him. He truly deserves no less. May he rest in peace.

Some people have suggested renaming the MAJESTIC ( where PHANTOM has been playing since January, 1988) after Hal Prince. It is Hal Prince's most commercially-successful project, in collaboration with Lloyd-Webber. Someone said that even up to more recent times, Hal Prince would check on the production to make sure the show stays in mint condition ( he would give notes on his observations).
