Jo, that’s all well and good, but with schools closing and both parents having to work, who is going to take care of the kids? If this had happened 25 or so years ago when my kids were young, I wouldn’t know what to do! I’m a retired O.R. nurse who couldn’t just walk off the job. My ex-husband, who was a computer programmer/analyst might have been able to work from home, but not sure. Some people are not just “a little” burdened financially, but A LOT! They have little or no savings, so if they can’t work, they are screwed. I’m quite thankful my mom and I can spend the majority of our time at home and have plenty of money saved. My daughter works from home in Advertising, but will probably have to stop seeing clients in person and only call them. My son, however, works at a warehouse pulling orders and has to go to work. The company is Japanese, so I don’t know what might happen with that! Nancy My sentiments exactly!

Yeah. Give me a f*cking break! These people are so incredible annoying and totally miss the point! I've seen some of these holier-than-though smart-ass comments yesterday. My goodness, he hasn't let the water on for minutes. And to all those who "reminded" him to not turn off the tap with his hands, this wasn't a public toilet but either at his home or in his hotel room! Now I would like to see how - or if at all - all these smart-asses wash THEIR hands!! It's sad that he felt the need to delete his funny little video and to post a "political correct" but boring (compared to the first) video. One day even he will be annoyed enough by people who find fault in everything, so that he won't post his little funny pics and videos anymore but only official promo stuff or nothing at all anymore! And then people will complain again why he doesn't post anything personal anymore! *eyerolling* Btw, WHO tweeted as a "challenge" a hand washing video, too - with running water!

I’m a retired O.R. nurse and when the techs, doctors or anyone scrubs in on a surgery, you leave the water running and scrub (with a brush that has a soft side plus a plastic bristled side for nails) your hands and forearms for FIVE MINUTES! There are soap dispensers with several types of cleaners, including betadine. You dispense the soap by stepping on a rubber half-mooned shape thing on the floor that has tubing attached to the soap container. The air forces the soap out. Also included with the brush is a plastic pick to clean underneath your fingernails. P.S. The water is turned off and on by hitting a panel with your knee. Nancy

That story about the triplets (one died at birth) reminded me of my boy/girl twins who were born 12 weeks early in Jan. 1987 (they are fine & healthy) They weighed 2 lbs. 2 oz and 2 lbs. 2.5 oz. and my son dropped down to 1 lb. 15 oz, in the beginning. I took them home on monitors at 4 lbs. 5 oz. after exactly 2 months in the hospital. They finally slept through the night in June 1987 when they were 10 lbs.! Nancy

The most famous St Patrick's Day parade is the one celebrated on Fifth Avenue in NYC. That has been cancelled in this year of the Virus But here's wishing the Irish and those who celebrate the day --
the best in this troubled year!☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ Jo

Here in the Philippines - we are now on COMPLETE LOCKDOWN in the main island and most populous part of the country.
We need to stay at home, unless one is exempt from the rules ( e.g., medical workers, food suppliers, drugstores, etc)and for emergency reasons.
All so we hope we can minimize the further spread of the virus.

One of the most critically hit by the crisis - because it had to go dark - is Broadway, fondly called the Great White Way!

There isn't only Broadway! It doesn't affect only Broadway shows but ALL - particularly smaller private - theatres and all other businesses worldwide that have to close now!

Yes, it is all very sad and disheartening!
On a macroeconomic level -- the entire world -- large and small businesses, all strata of society, practically everyone will feel the impact! The financial and capital markets are feeling it on a near-catastrophic level and that will cascade down to every consumer and to practically everyone on the planet. Just watching the announcements from the US yesterday on the many aspects of the crisis gives us a sense of the absolute gravity of the situation. It is a complete irony that the entire world is down on its feet because of an "invisible enemy"!
Example - even the invincible Disney is supposed to have lost around a third of its market capitalization (some $ 85 Billion that there is some speculation it can become the subject of an unwelcome takeover from a company like Apple). Just think of the many, many workers employed in its many theme parks (that have been abruptly closed now) who are probably out of work now ( who knows for how long) and the many small businesses that supply its needs. And it's not just a tighten-your-belts-severely issues - there are social implications on human behavior on how to behave and cope in an unprecedented and unwelcome situation. In the extreme, some people feel that " house arrests", or for some, the shadow of martial law are the more difficult aspects to bear because we are social animals - that is why the loss of mass entertainment or partying or simply gathering together needs some big adjustments on a personal level. I just saw a tweet of a mom who shared that her 7-year old daughter is having difficulty coping with a sudden loss of a long-dreamed of and long-planned for birthday celebration because we are now encouraged to avoid crowds. It may sound very trivial to some of us -- but that little girl's heart is breaking.
And we probably need to ask ourselves - if we can spare it - what can we do to help others? The ultimate sacrifice is probably the medical worker who exposes himself to a very serious, sometimes fatal, health threat the medical community faces in order to help others!
In a sense, however, it is also heartening to see how the human race is giving us examples on the many kind and unselfish examples of helping others which are told in little vignettes of life.

Here's an interesting example and almost humorous to many of us here in our country.
One of our largest companies is not just supplying food and beverage for free from their huge operations to a big sector of the most affected of society...but they have also allocated part of their production operations of liquor...to one that can make rubbing alcohol ( due to the shortage of the product, partly because of people panicking about the prospect of touching the dreaded virus)! I don't know whether to call it as a genius business move or a desire to help out in whatever way. But people are chortling over the thought that what was once called a dangerous human hobby of drinking ( we even call the additional taxes imposed on it as " sin taxes") has now been transformed into a miracle worker. The irony of life and the ingeniousness of man!

Jo You can make your own hand sanitizer mixing Isopropyl Alcohol 2/3 cup + AloeVera gel 1/3 cup. 😉 www.thespruce.com/make-your-own-homemade-hand-sanitizer-606145Nancy

From the BWW board -- We are all hoping the health issue has settled down to the extent that by Labor Day, the bright lights of Broadway will be seen again...and that Hugh and The Music Man and the "76 trombones will lead the big parade!"
