Casual or formal wear - he can look as good as any male fashion model. Even movie costumes, particularly for period movies ( Leopold, Van Helsing, Le Maire Jean Valjean) fit him well. He even looked very good as the Drover in those moleskins. No wonder William Ivey Long likes to dress him for the stage ( how good did he look in the white tux for TBFO ...and, er... how can guys get away with leopard print shirts and gold lame pants and keep the ladies swooning)

It was taken in March 1999 and looks like it would have been a Paperback Hero promotion as he's with Claudia Karvan. I doubt that he would have had a stylist in those days so it was probably his real life "leading lady" who dressed him !!! LOL

From what I remember, both Hugh's and Claudia's outfits were made by some "up and coming" Aussie fashion designer at the time. You can tell their outfits are somewhat similar in this photo below. I must say, if I were Hugh at that time, I would have taken one look at the getup...and RUN! ;D
