This esteemed parody revue, back after a 3-year absence, makes fun of only the best, so Hugh should feel honored. "The Boy Who's Odd" is gone; this is a new number.
Decked out in gold lame, "Hugh" can't help treading on the poor toes of his long-suffering chorus girls in "Steppin' Out on My Babies." The chorines grimace in pain and trip as he clumsily tries to dance but can't stay clear of their toes The soles of his shoes reveal a big letter R and L on either foot to help guide him. Jackman, the "hack man," knows he's "not that great." And of course there's an obligatory reference to Wolverine.
It sounds meaner than it comes across, and it's all in fun. Actually, I think Catherine Zeta-Jones got a nastier roasting in a spoof of her not very well-received performance at the Tonys a couple of seasons ago.
Also satirized: Audra MacDonald, Elena Roger and Ricky Martin, ONCE and THE BOOK OF MORMON and old standbys ANNIE, LION KING and others. It's a cute, fun and witty show with very able oerformers.

Ellen, Sorry, I didn't realize you created this thread ( and referred only to your post on BWW) on my reply on the other Broadway thread. Hugh is good copy for parodies -- because he is too good to be true ;D Will he ever have a chance to see this Jo

No biggie. I hope he does get a chance to see it; I think he'd laugh his labeled feet off.

Update: Revisited the post-opening FORBIDDEN BROADWAY. The Hugh segment is gone, but the rest of the show is even better than it was before. Hilarious Mandy-Patti bit, a Bernadette Peters bit, Sondheim on INTO THE WOODS, and more. This one is probably the best FB I've seen over the years.
