Yes, a genius--and gone way too soon. I once passed him on the street and said hello. He returned a big, gracious smile and nod my way. Seemed like a nice man.
May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of his passing. He was one singular sensational songwriter.

So sad. He was a fabulous composer of an extraordinary variety of styles. Short (early) clip of him with Bing and Liza - interesting trivia about his start: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vagQh7shF6oBTW: He was one of the many who co-wrote with Peter. He also did the arrangements, produced and played piano on Peter's I Could Have Been A Sailor LP. Lots more links on his own website: www.marvinhamlisch.com/

Wow, 68 was too young for this talented man to go. He was an amazing composer. I grew up loving so many of his songs and had bought several of his LP's (yes those big round vinyl things with a hole in the middle that actually played music). I remember buying "The Way We Were" on a 45 and playing it over and over again until it wore.
Thank you Marvin for sharing your great talent with us.
