Have you ever wondered why the long promenade that stretches from the Skating Rink to Fifth Avenue is called THE CHANNEL?
I did - for many years...until I found out that the two opposite buildings on either side are actually called the British Building (aka British Empire Building) and the French Building (aka La Maison Francaise).
