Looks like the view from one of the boxes.

That blue dress jacket gives Hugh fits constantly. Why the costumer can’t fix the buttoning mechanism is a mystery. In all the times I’ve seen the show, more than half of them he’s struggled an extended time to get it closed.

Friday Night at THE MUSIC MAN: Fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

After the curtain call at last night's performance of THE MUSIC MAN, Hugh Jackman did some serious fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Two autographed pairs of gloves (worn by Jackman and costar Sutton Foster) were auctioned off and pulled in $20,000 a pair. Jackman also auctioned off his golden Harold Hill whistle for an additional $10,000. To keep the audience bidding feverishly, Jackman (urged on by Foster, I believe) struck a few "Wolverine" poses. The crowd went nuts, and the red collection buckets filled with cash.

This was my third visit to MUSIC MAN, and I can only report that Jackman's remarkable ability to captivate an audience remains intact. And as Marian, Sutton Foster is knocking it out of the park too. I'm something of a MUSIC MAN purist (the 1962 film is one of my three all-time favorite movie musicals), and I'll admit that some of the creative choices for this revival had me thinking "Really? They're doing it like that?" But I just shrugged and went along with it, hoping it would work with the audience - and make no mistake, it's working like gangbusters.

One of the unexpected highlights of this revival is Gino Cosculluela as Tommy Djilas; his gymnastic dancing is really something to see.
