Another clip of the closing show speech...with a longer capture of the orchestral music as the audience leave after the show.

This is an UNOFFICIAL filmed version of the revival of THE MUSIC MAN!
You can expand it to a larger screen.

MUSIC MAN alums, many of whom we got to know during the 13-month run, are pretty busy: Benjamin Pajak, Philip Boykin and Eddie Korbich made such a great impression in their respective roles on B’way that they’ve just repeated them in a Sacramento, CA production of MM. Plus Boykin is heading back to Broadway to take over the role of the King of the Underworld in HADESTOWN. He has the perfect deeper-than-deep voice to convey both menace and charm, just like original star Patrick Page.
Meanwhile, so good to read that the erstwhile Mrs. Paroo, the wonderful Marie Mullen, is getting stellar reviews downtown in THE SAVIOUR at the Irish Repertory Theatre.
All best to MM’s talented and friendly supporting cast!
(And we all know what the leading man is up to.) 😊

And Max Clayton ( without facial hair) has just completed a stint as lead in SINGIN' IN THE RAIN at Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine... midpoint in the clip shows him with the famous dancing and singing in the rain.

I had the pleasure of seeing Marie Mullen, erstwhile, Mrs. Paroo, give a powerful performance in a searing one-act drama, THE SAVIOUR, earlier today at the Off-Broadway Irish Repertory Theatre. I didn’t have the opportunity to chat with her and tell her how good she was, unfortunately. I believe it’s closing next week.
CORRECTION: It’s closing August 13.

That was in November 2022, when Hugh needed a vocal rest, per doctor's advice.

A relatively new Twitter/X account has been set up " The Music Man on Broadway" it has individual and personal recollections from the cast members. twitter.com/madeukumxxThe account was set up in October 2023. I wonder what this is leading up to ? A book? A documentary? A possible transfer of the show to the UK ( twitter/X account includes "madeuK" as part of its user name? The producer who replaced Scott Rudin for the Broadway production, Kate Horton, produces shows in the UK for her group production company.

It's fun to see these, but to me, it seems like it's simply a "copycat" account that is for some reason posting verbatim some of the official account's old tweets.
The motive is unclear, but why would any genuine account post this now? Not to mention that @ name seems suspicious. I don't see "uk", I see something else.

Yes, it is a duplicate of the official twitter/X account and posts of the show. twitter.com/MusicManBwayI just thought it odd that the account was created only last October (2023)... As the King of Siam would say : "Is a puzzlement!" Jo

Jo Just as with fake Hugh accounts, it's common for bots/fake accounts to repost a bunch of legitimate information in an attempt to look real at a glance. Every one of these Music Man posts was put up yesterday. The page probably had some other "branding" before which they've deleted. I just took a look at the "likes", and the stuff there is very very NSFW. So no, not legit in any way.

I just realized today is January 15, marking one year since the last MM performance. What a trove of memories those 13 months left for so many of us.

Many memories of different hues and level of excitement! Seeing the show for the first time carried with it trying to forego what biased reviews created in some minds. As my nephew said -- "I could hardly breathe from seeing all that was on stage -- will definitely see it again!" Seeing it a few more times again solidified thinking that it is a worthy revival and a revival that dared change some of the givens in the original film musical ( the only remaining full proof of the Preston-Jones original) Seeing it also gave me a chance to meet Hugh in the overly-crowded stage door. In my case, getting an opportunity to thank him for his work in what-then-was-still-to-be-released The Son. I have my memories of the film which remain strong up to now. It is remarkable how that film impacted on his personal life. Seeing it again ( June&November) gave me opportunities to meet friends from other Hugh shows in the past! I wish I was one of those who could come to the closing show... and be lucky enough for that special thank-you hug Jo

A year hence --
I have suggested that this revival could be a good film project.
*Musicals seem to have stayed as a favored ( or at least an acceptable) genre among movie fans. Wonka has just passed the half-billion mark in overall box office
*This revival has been slightly contemporized but retained its original barebones. But it is exceptional in that it presents a different characterization by Hugh Jackman of the character of Harold Hill. Not the revival-tent type of brash-talking & characterization by Robert Preston but a full-on charmer suiting the persona of Hugh Jackman. We also found out that original literary notes on the character of Hill showed him as a charismatic & handsome man who charmed with his looks & seductive ways with his audience. A story can be told in many ways.
*This revival showed that the period story had other very interesting characters apart from Harold & Marian ( Mayor Shinn & Eulalie Shinn/Winthrop/etc) even a slightly different Marcellus... those characters in the opening scene were attention-getting enough.
*A film adaptation will have the opportunity of a more realistic and more awesome small-town but period-correct setting ( that adds to the appeal of the story). A period musical will have its unique charm - not just the setting but how the characters populating it are unique and interesting to compare with present-day scenes.
*And who is to say that "76 Trombones" and even "'Til There Was Hugh" are not in the national consciousness ( although the love song is more memory than current hit ... and more associated with a famous Beatle)?

I have been looking for a full clip of the Tonys performance - but could not find a complete one. Finally! www.facebook.com/MusicManBway/videos/516980430220563Looking at how delighted the audience seemed at the outset and the clapping that went on -- it is hard for me to believe that this revival ( bringing so much joy to audiences) did not win the Tony... or that a Michael Jackson-wannabe wins over Hugh Jackman's exhilarating portrayal as the conman Harold Hill. Woke-ism at its worst? *Gender-swapping for roles (Company)? *Hailing interpretation of a role of someone who is not Caucasian even if his personal history is not laudable? Can they please leave award-giving to real artistic excellence! Jo
