Voting by IMDB members -- only a handful at this point (442 of those who saw it) since THE SON has not been released to the public. Comparatively, Bad Education has been rated by 40.5 thousand. Compare IMDB ratings with Bad Education -- www.imdb.com/title/tt8206668/ratings/?ref_=tt_ov_rtSee the graph - it is an ideal Bell curve ( shaped like a "bell" lying on its side - this is a statistics way of measuring reliability of ratings) for Bad Education. Also, BE is considered a well-liked film both by audiences and critics. Its weighted average rating AND arithmetic mean is both 7.1. Voters are 40.5 thousand to-date. ************************************* THE SON has been rated with a weighted average of 6.2 ( arithmetic mean is 6.5) IMDB graph for THE SON -- note how "10" and "1" stick out - the movie is divisive. presumably because of the subject, its cinematic vision and how it is perceived by audiences. Ironically, both movies earned Hugh Jackman as best-in-career comments/ratings!
Just like LES MISERABLES and THE GREATEST SHOWMAN -- some did not like the singing in Les Miserables while the music was approved by all who saw THE GREATEST SHOWMAN. Les Miserables, though, was a dramatic musical and the director's cinematic vision focused on the drama of the story, based on a famous literary work.
Hugh earned an Oscar nomination for Les Miserables while he failed to get one for The Greatest Showman ( Fox's fault - only THIS IS ME was submitted for Oscar consideration) but look at all the YouTubes and Tiktoks of all who want to ape Hugh Jackman as The Showman!

Not to honor an actor who is brilliant on film and stage ... in the same period ... and despite pandemic difficulties would be a shame!
Has there ever been an actor whose brilliance was shown at the same time in the most difficult time in modern history?
