September 12 will be just around the corner once again I wonder what has happened to the cast - whether professionally-speaking or even some memorable moments in their personal lives. They all gave us such a memorable year and left us with intoxicating memories! Let me start with the most obvious -- HUGH JACKMAN *Last film released was REAL STEEL, a hit at the box office ($ 300 million, worlwide, and brisk sales of DVDs), and endeared him to the youngest movie demos *Last Broadway appearance was BACK ON BROADWAY, a blockbuster! *Completed LES MISERABLES early this year. *Filming THE WOLVERINE for the second half. *Honored with a second TONY this year (for his work as a performer and as a humanitarian) *To be honored with a tribute from NYC's MUSEUM OF MOVING IMAGE *Co-owns a coffee shop ( LAUGHING MAN), with all profits going to charity *Auditioned with Harlem Academies, but failed to show why he can also be a superstar teacher. Crossing our fingers and toes for him come Oscar nomination and awards time !!!! Jo

An update on Mitchel Federan, the other Boy from Oz www.mitchelfederan.com/He's now 20! :o And a fulltime professional choreographer - he does love to dance Check out the link, as I am unable to copy his latest biodata and video photos. I used to remember him going out the stagedoor with his backpack ...and weren't there stories of how he played cards with Isabel and Stephanie as they awaited the finale? Jo

I spoke to him as he re-entered the stage door between shows in Mar. 2004. Just told him how good I thought he was. Hard to believe he's 20 now!

I am not sure if they are still with the cast, but Michael Mulheren and Isabel Keating were part of the Opening Night cast of the controversial SPIDERMAN:TURN OFF THE DARK musical. www.broadway.com/shows/spider-man-turn-off-the-dark/cast/I've also seen Michael Mulheren, our favorite BC/EFA auctioneer and Peter's gruff manager, on reruns of old Law and Order series. Stephanie Block has been the most active on Broadway -- *she had her own musical ( written by Boublil and Schonberg of Les Miserables fame) - THE PIRATE QUEEN *she went back to WICKED ( which she helped create before the time of TBFO) *she also replaced Sutton Foster in ANYTHING GOES Now, she is going to be in the revival of EDWIN DROOD this fall on Broadway. www.stephaniejblock.com/news.htmlJo

When HOUDINI finally lands on Broadway, I wonder if our TBFO leading ladies will be considered in the casting of the women spiritualists whom contends fiercely with Houdini ( according to book writer Aaron Sorkin)?
I hope so - they worked so well with Hugh in TBFO, each sparkling or especially pleasing in her own way!

Last night at the Theater World Awards, Isabel Keating closed the show with a wild medley of songs associated with Judy Garland, Bary Manilow and Peter Allen. So nice to see she's still with TBFO's Mark Berman, who took over as musical director for her medley. A former Theater World Award recipient, she held up two giant gold maracas and said that "Hugh Jackman, a Theater World Award winner, gave me these at the opening night party of The Boy from Oz." I, and about four other people, applauded at the mention of Hugh's name, of course. She also made a ribald but funny joke about those maracas. (Use your imagination.)
Before launching into "Rio," she voiced Peter's dictum about not going out quietly. She looks great, by the way. I'm glad to see that she took Hugh's advice about keeping up her singing. (I think I remember reading that she hadn't done a musical before TBFO, but Hugh bolstered her confidence--and the rest is history.) Fun evening.

Not so much the cast but the regulars: I happened to see Jenny in the theater district yesterday. The members of the original version of this forum may remember her, as she was at practically every TBFO performance (OK, slight exaggeration there) with her ever-ready movie camera. I think she had something like 20+ hours of filmed stage door experiences. Anyway, she looks exactly the same: great.

I also remember Jenny at the stagedoor. She also happened to be a fellow countrywoman, a Filipina but now residing in the USA (Ct). I also wonder what happened to the miles of stagedoor video clips that she filmed for TBFO.

I understand that Isabel Keating is the standby for Stockard Channing in IT'S ONLY A PLAY - and Stockard had been absent at least two days in a row.

I can personally attest to that. It's now intermission at the Schoenfeld. Isabel is hilarious. Heard she was on today so I did standing room. Fairly funny play.

Would have liked to but had to catch my return bus. She looks great, by the way, wearing a slinky black gown and a long, wavy auburn wig. Her line delivery was flawless--even a long string of variations on the "F" word.
