Yes, Fandango sells tickets for AMC theaters. I checked yesterday and discounted matinee ticket at 2pm for Seniors was $12.92. Regular adult price $14.92. Includes tax.
This is just for a regular seat - not IMAX, 3D, laser (what is that?!)

After bemoaning the state of the 2024 box office, AMC Theatres chief Adam Aron finally has something to roar about.

Aron wrote on Wednesday that Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman starrer Deadpool & Wolverine is off to a supersized start and set a new record for first-day advance ticket sales for the country’s largest movie circuits. Tickets went on sale Monday for the Marvel Studios sequel, which officially opens in North America on July 26 following previews on the evening of July 25.

“Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever,” the colorful CEO wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Online ticketing service Fandango, which services a majority of movie circuits, also reported brisk first-day sales for Deadpool & Wolverine, saying they were the best of 2024 to date, as well as a franchise best and the best for an R-rated feature.

While neither Fandango nor AMC provided dollar figures, insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter that first-day sales are likely around $8 million to $9 million if extrapolating the 200,000 stat cited by Aron.

None of the parties involved are officially commenting, but all signs indicate that Deadpool & Wolverine will cross $100 million in its debut, a feat no 2024 title has yet achieved as domestic box office revenue slips 20 percent behind 2023 due in large part to production delays tied to the strikes (the industry mantra has become “survive to 25,” and one used frequently by Aron when addressing anxious investors).

2012’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2 topped the list of biggest R-rated openers at $132.4 million and $125 million, respectively, not adjusted for inflation.

Directed this time out by Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine continues the irreverent superhero franchise that’s the brainchild of Reynolds, who helped persuade Jackman to once again don the Wolverine costume and star with him in the threequel.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the first R-rated movie ever released by Marvel and Disney.

EXCLUSIVE: Disney/Marvel Studios‘ Deadpool & Wolverine hit six week tracking this morning and, man, does it look amazing. The Quorum, which actually monitors pics six weeks ahead, is reporting a projection of $200M-$239M, which the service actually believes is conservative.

Let’s give this an asterisk: There has never been an R-rated movie before that has opened to $200M, and by the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman threequel busting that sphere, it will be an anomaly. The current record for an R-rated opening at the domestic box office is owned by the original Deadpool which posted $132.4M back in February 2016. Even if Deadpool & Wolverine comes in at $150M (keep in mind, it’s not clear if the younger Disney Marvel Studios parents/fans realize this is R-rated), it will still rep the biggest opening for both Reynolds (beating Deadpool) and Jackman (besting X-Men: The Last Stand‘s $103M). At that level, it will also be the highest opening of the summer, besting even this weekend’s anticipated $100M start for Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' New Teaser Has Fans Guessing On Who Is Attached To Legs
Among those willing to pay to see the movie in a theater, the Shawn Levy-directed threequel blows away all other titles this summer with a high score. In fact, it’s the highest of any movie this summer in any metric across unaided and total awareness and interest. The movie also has the highest PLF score at 28% with Quorom, meaning of all the movies this summer, audiences definitely want to see this in a premium format. The tracking numbers for men we are told are actually higher than that of Spider-Man: No Way Home six weeks from release; that movie ranks as the second best domestic opening of all-time at $260.1M. Note the projections for Deadpool & Wolverine could actually climb.

Both Deadpool movies did well, I think every Hugh Jackman X-men/Wolverine movie did well, it’s hot as hell everywhere this weekend and a lot of folks would rather be in an AC’d movie theater. This is like folks being surprised that the new Bad Boys movie was a hit.

The movie is not expected to be released in RUSSIA given the ban originated by the film studios when the war with Ukraine started. Someone estimated revenue loss to be approx $ 20 million?

As Russia continues its invasion, the Ukrainian Film Academy has called for an international boycott of Russian cinema. Europe's film industry expressed solidarity, with the Cannes and Venice film festivals announcing they're barring anyone with ties to the Kremlin. Major Hollywood studios are taking action, too.

Warner Brothers had been scheduled to release The Batman to theaters in Russia on Friday. But days ago, WarnerMedia announced that in light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, it's pausing the release of its new superhero movie starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight who faces down Gotham City's villains.


In Russia, Sony Pictures Entertainment will delay the film Morbius, starring Jared Leto as a doctor who becomes a vampire. Similarly, Paramount Pictures will not release the animated sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and The Lost City, starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Brad Pitt.

The Hollywood boycott of Russia is welcome news for producer Illia Svidler, the CEO of Ukrainian film distributor Kinolife.

"When all the big Hollywood movies are not released, people feel it," he said from an apartment in Dnipro, a six-hour drive from Kyiv. He's hunkering down there with his wife, their 8 month old daughter and his parents, and says when the air raid sirens go off, they shelter together in the bathroom.

The Walt Disney Company announced it's working with its NGO partners to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees. For now, Disney is not releasing its theatrical films in Russia — starting with the Pixar animated film Turning Red.

For its part, Netflix is reportedly pausing its Russian original series and acquisitions. The streaming service also announced it has no plans to add state-backed content, considered to be propaganda.

Sony's action adventure film Uncharted, with Tom Holland, is one of the most popular movies in Russia. Last year, more than 10 million Russian moviegoers watched Spider-Man: No Way Home. Given that, Russian film critic Anton Dolin says the theatrical boycotts are "catastrophic," even "apocalyptic" for the Russian film industry.


In an op-ed piece for the Telegram Meduza news site, Dolin predicts that Russian film productions will be canceled and that Russian audiences will end up watching pirated Hollywood films, provided the Internet is still accessible.

Svidler notes that more than 70% of the films shown in Russia are Hollywood movies. The boycott will wipe out those profits, he says, which are helping fund Russia's military actions. "They will have only little independent films, Russian films," he says, adding that the boycott is a "good financial tool to stop the war."

Svidler says Ukrainian cinemas are now shuttered, and some movie studios have become shelters for families facing Russian bombs.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” will enjoy a release in mainland Chinese cinemas on July 26, simultaneous with its North American outing. And, despite hailing from what is arguably Marvel’s most adult franchise, the film will incur only “minimal cuts” for its China release.

All foreign films entering China require permission to be imported, to clear censorship and must be allocated a release date by local authorities.

The Film Bureau-approved China release on July 26 was announced Monday morning local time in China via Marvel’s local Weibo (social media) account and subsequently confirmed by Disney.

In a separate Weibo post, Marvel said that star Hugh Jackman (who has a considerable following in China), Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy will be in China for promotional duties on July 2.

While Disney and Marvel were not specific about the censor-imposed edits to the film, the cuts were reported to be “minimal and are due to violence, blood and gore, and language.” Sources close to the studio said that no cuts were made that impact the integrity of the storytelling and the film remains authentic to the Deadpool spirit.


That is unlike 2019’s “Once Upon a Deadpool,” which was completely reworked with all-new scenes to create a PG-13 version.

China does not have an official film rating or classification system and all film releases are theoretically supposed to be accessible to audiences of all ages. That has not stopped some exhibitors and distributors occasionally pressing for a classification system or issuing audience guidance of their own.

The decision means that including “Deadpool & Wolverine,” five out of the last six Marvel franchise movies have secured releases in China: “The Marvels” in 2023, “Ant-Man 3 in 2023, “Guardians 3” in 2023, and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in 2022. “Thor: Love and Thunder” was not released in China.


Hollywood films have struggled to regain the success with mainland Chinese audiences that they previously enjoyed before the pandemic and a chilling of political relations between the U.S. and China. In both 2022 and 2023, imported films secured a roughly 15% share of mainland China’s theatrical revenue. So far in 2023, only “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” produced and distributed by Legendary, a subsidiary of Chinese conglomerate Wanda, has achieved blockbuster numbers. Its gross in China was $132 million. “Kung Fu Panda,” which has Chinese themes, but no Chinese financial or creative input, is the second-ranked Hollywood title so far in 2023, with $51 million.

Disney itself cannot claim that it is the regard for Disney that is the reason for the favorable reaction to Deadpool&Wolverine.

*Disney never had an R-rated movie release till now.

*Its recent highest box office release was Beauty and the Beast with $1.266 Billion. Of that amount, China contributed $86 million ( or 6.8% of total hox office vs 17.1% for Logan-China vs Total Receipts)

Hopefully, they will love Wolverine&Deadpool as much as they loved LOGAN!

One major factor could be the fight scenes -- hopefully, what has been reported for the new movie as to its fight scenes will have the same favorable impression with the Chinese audiences as Logan did.
