Deadpool & Wolverine should be closing its theatrical run fairly soon. For one, it has released the movie on streaming/digital and will soon release it via physical media.

Box Office Mojo has now compiled the box 0ffice results on the basis of regions and individual countries.

It should be noted that the box office figures from China are much lower than 2 previous XMen movie releases (Logan & Days of Future Past & LOGAN. This can be partly traced to a recent cultural phenomenon in China where the runaway hits now are no longer foreign movies but domestic movies whose themes resound exceptionally well with the Chinese people. IIRC, this trend started during the pandemic?

The highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, Marvel Studios/Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine refuses to stop breaking records, notching the highest-selling first week ever for an R-rated film on domestic digital platforms. The previous record holder, we understand, was Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4.

The Shawn Levy-directed action superhero comedy dropped on digital October 1. Eleven weeks running, the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman pic remains in the top 10 at the weekly box office, this past week earning $2.1 million at 1,605 locations for a running total of $634.4M stateside, the second highest-grossing movie YTD both domestic and globally behind Disney’s own Inside Out 2 ($652.9M U.S., $1.69 billion global). D&W has earned $1.33B at the global box office.



Other notable milestones for the Marvel Studios’ feature include:

— Ranks as the No. 13 highest-grossing domestic film of all time
— Stands as the No. 5 domestic, No. 10 international, and No. 7 global MCU film of all time.
— Had the highest-grossing global opening for an R-rated film ever, surpassing 2016’s Deadpool.

D&W received an A CinemaScore, and counts 95% fresh Rotten Tomatoes Audience score.

The pic arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 22. Disney+ hasn’t officially announced when the action buddy comedy will arrive on the streaming service.

Recently, Inside Out 2, drew 30.5 million views worldwide on Disney+ in its first five days after dropping on September 25, not only becoming the No. 1 film premiere YTD on the service but also the best film premiere on Disney+ since Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto (2021), and the No. 1 film premiere of all time in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) and LatAm (Latin America). Inside Out 2 streamed on Disney+ after a 104-day theatrical window.

Exhibitors gave a final push and #DeadpoolAndWolverine took full advantage of this last hurrah, officially beating #Barbie’s 636.2M run as #12 highest grossing film of all time at US #BoxOffice!

#RyanReynolds & #HughJackman grossed 680k on 13th 3-day weekend, just a -13.4% drop from last FRI, despite being on digital, after having +535 theatres added back for a final hurrah now playing in 1.535 theatres, for a 636.4M US cume!

Deadpool and Wolverine are sashaying past Barbie on domestic box office charts.

Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” added $679,000 as Disney brought the film back to 1,500 theaters over the weekend, boosting its North American total to $636.3 million. Those ticket sales were enough to ever-so-slightly surpass “Barbie” ($636.238 million) as the 12th-highest grossing release ever at the domestic box office. Greta Gerwig’s plastic, fantastic fantasy-comedy “Barbie” remains significantly bigger at the global box office with $1.445 billion.

“Deadpool & Wolverine,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as their comic book alter egos, premiered in July and notched several box office milestones in the following days, weeks and months. After scoring the biggest debut for an R-rated film with $211 million, it now stands as the top-earning R-rated film in history. The movie is currently the second highest-grossing release of the year with $1.335 billion globally, behind Disney’s Pixar sequel “Inside Out 2” ($1.69 billion). “Deadpool & Wolverine” ranks as the 20th-biggest film in history on global charts.


Shawn Levy directed “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which is the first MCU movie to be headlined by comic book characters that were previously licensed to 20th Century Fox. Reynolds and Levy assembled a who’s who of Fox-era heroes, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Chris Evans as Human Torch from “Fantastic Four,” Wesley Snipes as Blade, to accompany Deadpool and Wolverine on a timeline-salvaging mission.

The highest grossing R-rated movie of all-time just won’t stop breaking records. Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine became the most-watched live action film across Disney+ worldwide in its debut since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with a 6 day watch of 19.4M views. Deadpool and Wolverine premiered on Disney+ on Nov. 12.

Also that doubles as a live-action pic viewership record for Hulu.

Disney defines a view as total stream time divided by runtime.

Deadpool & Wolverine also became the highest-selling R-rated title in its first week on stateside digital platforms back in early October, besting Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4. The movie debuted on digital on Oct. 1. D&W arrived on digital after a 68 day theatrical window, while for DVD it’s an 89-day window.


The Shawn Levy directed Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman comedy is hoping to land a spot in the awards season conversation, not just in the Golden Globe Best Comedy/Musical Feature slot, but hopefully on of the top ten Best Pictures nominated at the Oscars.
