The Son,by Oscar winner Florian Zeller, drew a 12-minute standing ovation at Venice filmfest. But how was it received by critics & fans in US/Canada? Berated! Not meant to be a medical procedural but more of a familial drama about adolescent depression. Only GGlobes recognized its worth.

But take a look at readers reviews on IMDB - so many stories in real life that were repeated in the movie. A film that was worthwhile watching for the lessons it gave and the conversations it has provoked.

After that-GShowman (musical biopic/ FrontRunner (GaryHart biopic)/ BadEducation ( US School system financial scandal & EmmyBestTV Movie)/ Reminiscence (romantic sci-fi thriller in climate-change Miami/ The Son (familial drama with adolescent depression) & Music Man on Bway!

I usually use "Applause" when I comment on the trade papers.

Hugh must have written this message very sincerely to accompany his photo on the first day reporting to the film set --

It was May 22, 2023. Day 1 of filming Deadpool and Wolverine. I remember it clearly. The feeling of what I knew would be an incredible movie making experience. The opportunity to visit Logan in a whole new way, in a whole new world. It felt incredibly inspiring. And truly terrifying. But as soon as I walked on set with my brothers @slevydirect and @vancityreynolds and saw so many dear friends, I knew I was, we were, about to go on the ride of our lives. And ohhhh man, it so is! ❤️💛

How dare Brian Cox dismiss this sense of adventure as simply "party time" and hinting at the paycheck


He has no right to dismiss Hugh Jackman's work ethic - after all the kinds of movies that fill up Hugh Jackman's film portfolio! A pervading sense of adventure - whenever he takes "the road not taken"!

How The Summer 2024 Box Office Got Moviegoing Back On Track

SATURDAY AM: Here’s something worth celebrating in a summer that’s currently commanding 64% of the $5.6 billion year: Disney/Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine is bound to cross $600M by Labor Day. Estimates for the four-day are between $19M-$20M. Even on the low end, that gets the Shawn Levy directed/produced/co-written feature to that threshold.

Back at the the top of the chart, Marvel Studios and Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine keeps playing and playing, and grossed an estimated $19.5 million, putting its domestic tally at an estimated $603.8 million through Sunday, the sixth-best showing ever for a superhero movie. Overseas, it raked in another $29.2 for a global tally of $1.258 billion through Sunday.

Hopefully, it can "claw" itself up to $ 1.3 Billion when it ends its run!

Somehow, I don't think Shawn fully appreciated Hugh Jackman's appeal as Wolverine! The fact that Fox made him the pointman for the franchise might have been lost on him -- that the studio did that because he has become the established leader of the group in fans's eyes. Plus maybe he did not realize how Hugh is not just an action star but someone with such acting depth & strength that he can lead any movie or stage project in any genre! He has been vocal of his appreciation of Ryan Reynolds ( calls it a creative brotherhood) but he has not fully appreciated that the real gem in the movie was Hugh Jackman.

A side note --

Formula One fans are tweeting that the leadership of F-1 deserves to be the laughing stock.

Its leading driver Max Verstappen was penalized for saying " my car is f-cked" during a press conference. His penalty -- he has to do community service for using such "foul language".

lol - if they did that for Deadpool&Wolverine -- Hugh Jackman would be doing community service forever & ever
