www.triplem.com.au/sydney/shows/grill-team/podcastsThis is the edited one-- they said the full interview will be available later. EDIT: This seems like the slightly longer interview -- www.triplem.com.au/sydney/shows/grill-team/blog/gus-chats-to-his-old-mate-hugh-jackman/20121123-hl7e.html A little bit of sad news for Hugh -- it seems his Dad is not well...and he said he may not get better. Maybe that is the reason why he opted to stay a few more days in Sydney, if he could. He mentioned Les Mis will open in Sydney on Dec 21 ( I think he meant the premiere) and will be back then. There are reminiscences from the best mates about school (grades and projects), Hugh's romantic interests, even Hugh's thoughts on the best food he ever had - LOL! Also, he had great praise for Russell as an actor. He seems like a Sydney boy at heart! Jo

He has indeed shaved ;D Hugh Jackmanþ@RealHughJackman Celebrating the wrap of Wolverine w/ golf in my new Calloway gear. Unfortunately the outfit is better than the score. pic.twitter.com/DI3UugfiJo

I wonder if the kids will be at the NYC premiere of Les Miserables? Oscar, maybe... but will Ava find it a little boring, as she did the one-man show ;D
Maybe they will be allowed to attend the Museum of Moving Image tribute?

Does anyone know what happened with their home? I thought it was damaged by "Sandy". Yes, it was. That's why they're reportedly staying in a hotel on the upper west side, which necessitates their taking a cab downtown to Ava's school. Ellen

I hope their building gets fixed soon. I'm sure they would all rather be in their own familiar surroundings. Sue

Wait a minute. Am I crazy or did they refer to Ava's dog as Peaches? I didn't think they changed Dali's name. Am I missing something?

No, it's still Dali. Jamie's point was that some reporters are still clueless as to Dali's name.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1707386/board/nest/207912380Two important things -- *There will be a feature on Hugh on 60 MINUTES on CBS on Sunday, December 9.*Be sure to watch the video on this link, maybe before reading the article? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hugh Jackman pays his father tribute Hugh Jackman's father is his "rock." He raised him alone from the age of 8 when his mother left the family. The "X-Men" actor isn't acting when he chokes up thinking about the message his father imparts to him constantly, to put his family ahead of his career. Scott Pelley profiles the Australian actor for 60 Minutes this Sunday, Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT. Jackman had to fudge a rule recently that has kept him and his wife and kids happy for some time: take no roles that require more than two weeks away from home. He spent a good deal of time away while playing Jean Valjean in the upcoming screen musical version of "Les Miserables." It's a part he considers the "role of a lifetime" and its generating Oscar buzz for best picture and best actor. Fresh off the long absence from his family, Pelley asks him what advice his father is giving him these days. Jackman is silent for several seconds before gaining his composure. "It's always about the family," he says softly, wiping the corners of his eyes and apologizing to Pelley for the unexpected show of emotion. "It's always, 'How's Deb?' It's not about work and I think that's him living with, probably some of his regrets and feelings of maybe he...at the wrong time put too much into his career and he doesn't want me to make that mistake," he tells Pelley. "And so, in his gentle way, he always reminds me that this is the most important thing." In the profile, Pelley traces Jackman's life from childhood, when the acting bug bit him in prep school, to his success on Broadway in roles other actors might avoid. He played the gay Australian songwriter Peter Allen, a part that won him a Tony and also started rumors. Asked by Pelley if he thought twice about doing the role that might limit his career, he responds, "Never thought it for a second. What sexuality you are is not the most interesting thing about you. It's the kind of person you are and that role just had, first of all, it was naughty," says the actor most famous for playing the murderous mutant Wolverine in "X-Men" films. "I would never give myself permission to do the things I did as Peter Allen and his sexuality, for me, is another costume. It's a personality trait, it's not who you are." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I remember when Hugh had that recent radio chat with mate Gus Worland where he said his father is not doing well, health-wise, and he was spending so much time with him, there was mention that knowing his Dad my not get better... indicates there may be a serious health issue ( which of course is a private matter), but maybe that explains his very emotional response on the video? I'm pretty sure that's it, Jo. I had the same feeling when I saw that 60 Minutes preview. You could read the fear and sadness on Hugh's face at the mention of his father. Pelley undoubtedly had not heard that podcast with Gus, where that very private matter was mentioned.

Talking about his English parentage, Hugh has now directly confirmed that he also carries a British passport in this interview writeup -- www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/film/4683073/Hugh-Jackman-on-taking-over-from-Daniel-Craig-as-James-Bond.html?OTC-RSS&ATTR=Film“But I am great mates with Daniel. When he was in Australia we caught up and, you know, no one could have played Bond better.” Then Hugh, whose parents are both English, gives a big grin and jokes about how he might get a recall because Daniel (who is the same age as him) is far too old play Bond.
He says: “I will just wait. The good thing about Daniel is he’s, what, 62 now, isn’t he? He’s falling apart at the seams. So I just keep telling him, ‘I’m ready, whenever you want to let him go, I’m ready’.
“The good thing is I have also got a British passport.”Jo

Jo I saw that yesterday and it still chokes me up to think about it. I wonder if the subject of his father's health will come up in the piece?? My heart just breaks for Hugh to have to be dealing with that during what should be a fun and exiting point in his career, moments that we know he would be so happy to share with his father...I try not to think what winning the Oscar will be like. I pray that his father will recover and barring that, I pray that he will be strong enough and healthy enough to enjoy these few months with Hugh, for both their sakes. What a beautiful thing it would be to watch his son achieve the pinnacle of success in his career coupled with his success as a human being with his family and his philanthropies. Sue

From the hectic Les Miserables promotion schedule, Hugh and Deb find time to relax --
They will probably be flying back to Sydney soon. Hugh is supposed to be a co-host for a morning show before the Sydney premiere on Dec 21 of Les Miserables.
