To everyone in Sandy's projected path - stay safe and be very cautious. This is a dangerous and scary storm.

Thanks so much Carol. I second that too for everyone experiencing this storm. It's getting pretty bad here already. Lots of cold rain and the winds are very high and starting to whip things around outside.

Thank you guys for your concern. So far we've lost power for a few seconds twice, but I'm in Frederick Md. We do have a place in Ocean City Md., beach block, and it's not very pretty there. Trying to stay not glued to the news. We just need a lot of prayers right now. But I knew I cam the right place for a few minutes. Thanks to you guys and everybody in the path, please stay safe.

Thanks, Naveah. Still have power for the moment. The TV sound is off, and like I said, I'm not a techie, I can't figure out how to get it back on (that should be the worst of my problems LOL). The wind is unbelieveable. It's so loud, you can't hear the rain. But lots of things to be grateful for. I'm inside and I have gas heat if the electricity goes out. I have a computer and this is just out of my control. It's a waiting game now. I've seen pictures of Ocean City Md. I have a first floor unit so I think I'm in trouble, but at least for now, everyone I know is safe, I have power, and I'm grateful and thankful for you and everyone else on this board. :-*

We have power here (NE NJ), but the lights do flicker now and then, big pine tree in front of our house in dancing in the rain/incredible wind. We're 2 blocks from a river and a brook is approx 50 yds from the house. It's going to get interesting.
Be safe everyone.

Wolvietat, I know this seems an odd moment for this despite what we're in the middle of, but welcome to the forum! I noticed this was your first post with us! Here's hoping that big pine tree of yours stays intact and all is well around your home! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers too! Jackie, how are you doing love? Electricity has flashed on and off here now and we have massive wind warnings going up to 100 km/hr! My hubby is still not home from work yet and I'm worried about him driving in this mess! It sounds horrid outside. Continued blessings to anyone in the midst of this!

The power's been out here since 4 this afternoon, so the generator's going. The center of the storm is passing over us (Cecil County, MD) now, so the wind and rain have eased up a bit for the time being.
A 100+ ft. tree uprooted and missed our next-door-neighbor's house by only a few feet. We're surrounded by woods, so everyone in the neighborhood knows to head for the basement during bad storms. The inflatable bed isn't the most comfortable, but it's better than wondering if a tree is going to come through the roof and land on top of you!
Jackie, the governor said during his last update that Ocean City was "so far, so good," so hopefully your place will be OK - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Take care, everyone. Carol

Hope everyone has weathered the worst of the storm/hurricane!
Coming from the tropics, I know what it means to be in such a massive weather disturbance!
As I have posted on another thread -- everyone, keep safe!

I hope everyone in NY, NJ & MD are okay. You got the brunt of it. The storm took a slightly different turn so we dodged a bullet. > Mostly wind and rain but not the heavy dangerous kind. We had enough of that last year with the tornadoes and the Halloween snow storm. Sue

Thanks for everyone's prayers and love. We just got computer and telephone back. Lost power, I guess around 11. It came back some time while it was still dark out. I turned the lights off and went back to bed. The TV came back up early, but no phone or internet till about an hour ago. It looks like Ocean City Md., to the south of 65th street really got it bad. We're at 148th St. near Delaware and the building seems to be OK. We'll know more this weekend. My friends in Brigatine NJ have a foot of water in their restaurant and are trying to clean it up now. I just want to send prayers and love to anyone who is in this storms path. Again, thanks for everything guys, so far everyone around here is safe.

Got a PM from foxie (Carol) and she's in Myrtle Beach and doesn't know yet how things are in New Jersey where she lives. Haven't heard from mamaleh (Ellen) who also lives in NJ, or Janis who lives in Manhattan. Keep us posted the rest of you. Even here in Atlanta it has been real windy and trees have come down. I just had some fairly thick branches fall in my driveway yesterday & today.

We were spared the worst of the storm also. The power came back in the middle of the night; we were prepared for it to be out for days based on previous storms, so we're thankful.
Jackie, it's good to hear that northern O.C. is OK. The news is definitely much worse for parts of the Jersey shore and New York City. The extent of NYC's damage boggles the mind; it's just frightening. It will be a while before things there return to normal.

You're right. I haven't seen Ellen post in a couple of days. I sincerely hope EVERYONE is OK in NY and NJ. The pictures from Battery Park looked terrible. And why didn't they take that crane down before the storm? My heart and prayers go out to everyone who had to deal with this horrible storm.

I'm one of the lucky New Yorkers: the only direct impact I had from Hurricane Sandy was when she blew off the cover of the air conditioner sleeve in my living room Monday night!
My office is part of the great mass of Manhattan south of 39th Street that lost power following that explosion at the Con Edison plant on the Lower East Side.
I'm happy to tell you that Ellen (mamaleh) is fine. She and hubby got the last bus out of Central Jersey on Sunday to wait out the storm in a NYC hotel. Unfortunately the first hotel lost power on Monday; they relocated to one in the theater district and hope bus service will be restored today so they can get home and see what condition their home and neighborhood is in.
Many thanks for all the good wishes and concern!
Margie

Finally on a bus back to NJ. Not my town but the next one over - close enough. Feels like we've been playing out ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. To be continued.
I appreciate your concern.

I'm just so glad to hear from everyone. I was really concerned when we didn't hear from Ellen and NY and NJ were supposed to be hit the hardest. I got an email from my condo board and everyone has to go to Ocean City Md. to see if there is damage. They say our building looks fine, but the unit on the far east #308 took on some water and leaked into #208. They are saying the units on the first floor are OK and I'm in 103, so I'll know more this weekend. I'm just so glad to hear everyones safe. Property can be replaced, people can't :-*.
