I came across this great article about Hugh's stand-in, Taris Tyler, who Hugh affectionately refers to as his brother. He was at one of the last performances of Back on Broadway and Hugh introduced him in the audience. My friends and I met him after the show and he was warm, friendly, and charming! Just like Hugh! www.theage.com.au/entertainment/movies/being-hugh-jackman-20130223-2ey8l.htmlCheryl

Cheryl, You were probably not around when we discussed the article a few months ago -- but thanks for reminding us about his comments on Hugh's intensive take on his role in PRISONERS. Everybody is looking forward to the movie! I do remember when Taris first surfaced as Hugh's stand-in. I was participating in another message board (for AUSTRALIA) ran by two Baz Luhrmann fans and we had seen the very first photos of Taris then. He has really broadened since then and has kept pace with Hugh's body changes It seems he and Irving are the permanent Aussies in Hugh's fairly small group who assist him in his professional career. If you look at the cast/crew listing for the last four movies ( Real Steel, Les Miserables, The Wolverine, Prisoners) on IMDB, Taris's name is listed as Hugh's double/stand-in. What differing roles and what a way for a budding actor like Taris to learn/relearn his craft. Jo

I'm confused. I read the Forbes Power 100, and Hugh wasn't on the list. Is this a different list, of actors only? Ellen

I wonder how he turned up with $ 55 million in earnings for the year measured? He was supposed not to have charged his full fee for Les Miserables - which is quite credible given that the movie only had a $ 61 million production budget. But maybe he had a back-end profit/gross profit participation for Les Miserables, plus of course his earnings in The Wolverine as star. I wonder if he also picked up profit participation for Back on Broadway ( which closed January 1, 2012).
Sorry, Hugh -- just me being nosy - LOL! I'm rooting for you smiley-love001

Thanks for the correction, Jo. Glad to see he's made the list. He's always on the top of our list!

Ellen The list he's on is called Celebrity 100 here's a link: www.forbes.com/celebrities/list/I also can't imagine how they came up with that list because the numbers in the various columns don't seem to make any sense. Thanks, Sue. I noticed that Forbes explains its methodology. Just click on that word at the top.

Thanks Ellen & Jo for trying to assist my poor feeble brain math has never been my strong suit "All of the data is processed through an algorithm that creates our power ranking." Well, that certainly clears it up for me Suffice it to say, I'm very glad our Hugh made it to the top of this list no matter how he got there. 8-) Sue

Some sites have picked up the Forbes's ranking. Here's the recap of the "most powerful" actors today ( no actress in the top ten), led by one Hugh Jackman smiley-happy096 www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a493524/hugh-jackman-robert-downey-jr-top-forbes-most-powerful-actors-list.htmlThis is going to help promote THE WOLVERINE and hopefully PRISONERS, too! I am also crossing my fingers that better script offers will come in with the help of the increased popularity. It's true that Hugh has shown particular strengths with social media ( Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc), plus his theatre gravitas and hosting achievements have also enhanced public awareness of his talent and versatility. Les Miserables, especially the awards attention, has given him a wider popularity platform. Jo

Strike while the fire is hot, big guy! Time to get CAROUSEL or SOUTH PACIFIC, or GUYS AND DOLLS on film. . I'm halfway through re-reading TALES OF THE SOUTH PACIIC, and there is great potential there for adding deeper insight into the characters.

Only a few of these would make my personal Top Ten, but it's been rather quiet around here and I thought this might start some interesting discussions. As I believe Hugh himself has said, most of my fave moments would be on stage, not the screen.

It looks like the reviewer never had a chance to see Hugh perform in the theatre ( not just hosting) - otherwise there would have been room for The Boy from Oz, A Steady Rain ( in my case, at least) and Back on Broadway. And where are Les Miserables ( maybe this was an omission because the clip was uploaded in November 2012), The Fountain, and Australia or even the end-scenes in Real Steel? Surely, there are more memorable scenes in those movies compared to Deception. But of course, to each his own Jo

Yes, I was also startled at the omission of THE FOUNTAIN. But it was a subjective opinion, so there you go.

The other unusual scene in Swordfish is when Stan is left alone to play with the awesome computer of his dreams! That scene is as close as you can get to a geek having sex with a computer! So well played by Hugh! He has several good scenes in that movie while everyone else's scenes are somewhat forgettable. Travolta in a role that he does in several movies was creepy but forgettable. The clips from Deception were confusing since there really wasn't a "moment". It is hard to watch him in that movie because he's so convincing as Wyatt, the sociopath...chilling. Since this was done before Les Miserables I'll forgive them for leaving that out as it seems to be filmed memorable moments, so I'll forgive them for leaving out most of his stage work too. Technically, the Oscars & Tonys were performed on a stage, but filmed for TV broadcast. But if they allowed that technicality they should have included Oklahoma since the performance was filmed! Leaving out some of the beautiful scenes in The Fountain or Australia is unforgivable. Some of his best scenes are in those movies. All in all, most of the clips are not most people's top 10 moments. I've been following that site for some time and they often come up with some good top 10 videos but their videos occasionally miss the mark...like this one. Still, it's always nice to see Hugh being part of a popular conversation piece! WatchMojo videos do generate conversations. Sue
