How can I forget OKLAHOMA!, even if it was not on Broadway?! The foresight of Trevor Nunn to have it filmed has been a boon to all Jackman fans who discovered him as a stage actor much later. My favorite scene was how he performed The Surrey With The Fringe on Top smiley-love029 www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAYLCXXCfUYOf course he is at his most charming in this performance as Curly where he was introduced to the international public -- the concert of HEY, MR. PRODUCER ( a tribute to C. Mackintosh) prior to the opening of OKLAHOMA! in London. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFjxMGM36Hk&list=RD02RAYLCXXCfUYSometimes I wonder where I liked him best - as Curly or as Valjean Jo

Who won't be charmed by the OPENING NUMBER at the 2009 Oscars cancan www.youtube.com/watch?v=Terhj8mjPwY&feature=youtu.beA lot of foreshadowing from that performance ) *"hosting" -- "nominated" in 2013! *"Everything is being downsized due to the recession" -- "we may start phasing out Q2/3", sez Bernanke! *"just a humble slumdog, sitting in the chair of a millionaire" -- # 1 in the Forbes Actors List of Power Celebrities ( earnings factor included) *"a sea of human excrement" - as in Parisian sewers with Marius? *singing with Annie -- Valjean and Fantine singing more poignantly together ( Come with Me) *"I am a wrestler" -- more like an " ex-boxer" *"These are the Oscars and this is my dream" -- singing again as Valjean, but hopefully the next encounter is with the golden statuette. *"I am Wolverine" -- now it is "The Wolverine" wolverine Jo

Such a lovely anecdote from a business professional who ran into Hugh near Central Park www.inc.com/jeff-haden/hugh-jackman-hails-me-a-cab.htmlThe whole blog is interesting to read, written from a management guru perspective, and sets up the story on Hugh which is narrated in these excerpts : Jo

Lovely story--it says so much about his giving, open nature. Hmmm, now he's the goodwill ambassador to Central Park as well as Seoul. Ellen

Years ago, he was the Duke of Albany enjoying a ride at Central Park...even rescuing Damsel Meg Will Hugh ever make another movie with New York as the backdrop ( this park...rather than Bryant Park for a setting) ? Jo

I'm not sure where else this might go, so--
It's from a NY Times Magazine article last month about Max Brooks and refers to his being unhappy working at Saturday Night Live. the context of the article implies that the son and father were modeled on Max Brooks and his relationship with his father, Mel Brooks.
"He did some work he was proud of there, like the first sketch he wrote that got on the air, in which Superman visits the Fortress of Solitude and has a conversation with his father, Jor-El. In Brooks' sketch, what ensues is an awkward talk between a father and a son who just moved out. 'Do you need any money?' the father asks."
Sound familiar? I get a kick out of thinking about Hugh playing a Superman based on Max Brooks.

Nice bit of trivia about Brooks and Hugh's one and only time as guest host, thanks. It reminds me again that I wish he had repeated a turn as host. The Daniel Radcliffe pop-in thing was fun, but a nibble is never so satisfying as a full meal.

I didn't know where to post this, so I'm sticking it here. Technically, not really Hugh (other than a few nice photos), but I'm sharing because it gave me a chuckle. The city of Canberra had a competition for a *bogus* advertising campaign to "reclaim" the land under a lake to make room for new housing. ... and the winner is - - Full article; scroll down for "Hugh's" videoGotta love that Aussie sense of humor <aussie> ... and the hairdo.

Many thanks, Valerie. That was a hilarious video. ("Slow down, ya mad bastard!") There was more blood on his claws after dispatching the birds than in all of THE WOLVERINE. Ellen

This is a sweet story & cute picture: www.eriklundegaard.com/index.php?itemid=2825My Sister and Hugh JackmanMy sister Karen and her husband Eric spent the last few weeks traveling around Ireland and England and were coming home via the Toronto airport when this happened: Photo credit: Eric Muschler Comments on Facebook, where this was posted, ranged among the following: Oh my! ... Eek! ... !!!!!! .... Drool ... Eric looks good in a green T-shirt ... Are you kidding me? Holy Hannah he is so hot! ... I don't get very star-struck, but that guy is seriously delish. Coincidentally, I'd watched a bit of “Les Miserables” on HBO this week, partly because I'd become a fan of the music (original Broadway cast album) since seeing the movie, and partly in anticipation of the Bloomington Civic Theater's production of “Les Miz,” which will star my nephew, my sister's son, Jordan, as Gavroche. And that's what I wanted to know. Did Karen tell Hugh Jackman about her own Gavroche? She did, and he wished Jordy well. She added: He's even more lovely in person. He shook all the security people's hands and smiled through the wait to get through and didn't even bother to put his shoes on before taking this picture with me.“The best thing about traveling,” Eric wrote, “is the people you meet.” Sue

Bride Surprised by Hugh Jackman on her Wedding Day A smidge of Hugh, about halfway into the clip. Typical Hugh. Such a sweet, friendly guy. If these women weren't fans before, I'm sure they are now.
