So, it looks like PRISONERS will just be a short shoot?
Two months -- I guess the story does not really call for many outdoors scenes, but mainly the drama that happens with the role of Keller vis-a-vis Loki ( the detective) and the suspected kidnapper?
This is going to look more and more like an indie drama, not a spectacle type of thriller (ala Taken, whichever version?) although I am expecting some scenes which could be a little shocking ( to me).

Yes, it sounds like a very short shooting schedule, too. And it's slated to be out by September, so very spare. not much in the way of special effects, I'd think. Looking forward to this.

I'm wondering whether the producers will change the name of the detective, given that millions of moviegoers thrilled to the wicked machinations of the evil Loki in both THOR and the very successful THE AVENGERS. Whatever, I'm really looking forward to this movie! Dare we hope for two successive Oscar noms for Hugh? Ellen

Not really about PRISONERS, but kind of related -- *According to the O'Brien interview re Houdini, Hugh is supposed to do a first act read-through for the musical in January *Then he is supposed to film PRISONERS from maybe mid-January to sometime in March *Then he is supposed to be back for more preparatons on HOUDINI in March-April *THE WOLVERINE is due out in July 2013, so presumably a long promotion and publicity tour/campaign will precede that ( maybe end of June to third week of July?) *PRISONERS is due out on September 20, 2013, so will be he doing some publicity for the movie -- it is a studio wide release by Warner Brothers so it could be a fairly busy one ( maybe beginning of September till release date?) Okay - could there be anything in store in the fall? I am not sure if HOUDINI will be ready then ( maybe spring of 2014 instead of fall 2013)? Maybe another film project? Or if Houdini is ready -- that would probably hit Broadway for previews in mid-fall? How does he fit in the promotion for PRISONERS? And does he want to open the show in late fall and then move into a difficult winter season for the show ( I still remember how we worried over the attendance for TBFO during the early months of 2004). And Btw - will he find time to be in Hollywood for the Les Miserables Oscar/Golden Globes ...er...campaigns Haha -- back to our old ways of writing his schedule for him ;D Jo

Does this man ever slow down? I know he's super talented, but he goes from one project right into another and into another.... I'm exhausted just thinking about it! In the Broadway.com article that Barbara posted it says they're wanting "Houdini" to be up and ready for the 2013-14 season so I'm assuming he's going to start doing this show in the fall of 2013. I know he loves working, but my goodness, sometimes I think he overworks himself and from the looks of his schedule (thanks to Jo itemizing it all) he doesn't even have a break! Hugh, please be careful of overworking that beautiful heart of yours!
Didn't Hugh make a comment once that Deb scolded him for taking on too many projects?

Not necessarily --the season includes the spring of 2014 and many shows might want a spring official opening which will allow it to qualify for the TONYs, especially if the lead is not staying for the whole year. One of the biggest problems with a late fall official opening ( prior to that would be maybe a two-month rehearsal period, maybe a few weeks preview period) is that the coming winter months make for lean box office attendance and if Hugh is not doing a full run, it might be better if he opens in spring 2014 and continue his run into the summer and maybe even early fall season.
Many celebrities who do Broadway usually open in the spring and stay on only after the TONYs. Julia Roberts did that. A new example is Tom Hanks who is going to do the play that Hugh once did a workshop for Mike Nichols -- yes, the McAlary play by Nora Ephron. He is doing a limited run ( 10-12 weeks, not sure which) but opening only in the spring of 2013. And I think the current season's potential TONY Best Musical show, MATILDA, which is transferring from London is opening on Broadway only in the spring of next year ( previews in March and opening in April, 2013, as announced by the RSC, which is producing it for Broadway).
Personally, I am not sure that he may want to stay with the show for a full year ( of course that could be affected by the projected breakeven period for the musical) -- too physically taxing and it will keep him away from the Hollywood spotlight for a long time. During TBFO, he got so thin that it was almost painful to watch his gaunt face...and it took almost two years to get him back to the big screen, even if he left the show in September 2004 ( not too sure but his return was marked by the opening of XMEN3 which if I recall was a late May 2006 release?).
But who knows - Hugh might have his own plans - I am just guessing ;D

Ellen, The thought has crossed my mind I think there may be three roles that could draw Oscar attention -- *Keller *The suspected kidnapper (Dano) *And maybe the Aunt But this is another year's expectations -- right now, our hopes are pinned on Jean Valjean Jo

I like the casting too. As soon as I saw the news about Paul Dano I thought he would be the guy that Keller thinks is the kidnapper. PD is just eerie & creepy enough to make that believable. This seems like a much heavier and more dramatic role than I've seen him play but maybe he's done something heavy that I haven't seen. Anyway it might be a nice big break for a young actor.
Someone mentioned the detective name. I was thinking the same thing...that they should change his name. I'll be curious to see if they do. Also, I agree that this has Oscar potential written all over it. I don't think I'll be quite as obsessed as I've been with Les Miserables though but I'll definitely be watching the progress of this closely. I'm glad it all seems to be happening in a much shorter time frame.

It looks like there might be some filming ( or all the filming) of the movie in Atlanta after all.

Nancy that would be so awesome for your son (and YOU of course!!!) if he gets this amazing chance!
For those of you who haven't seen the movie "Looper", I went to see it tonight and didn't realize that Paul Dano is in it! He's definitely going to be great as the "suspected" kidnapper in "Prisoners"!

Wow! That's cool - thanks, Neveah!! I'm surprised they have a teaser poster out already, but I guess, if they are planning to have it in theatres in less than a year, they couldn't miss this opportunity to promote it. I looked up the AFM, which is where this was displayed, I guess: it's an industry convention to promote and make distribution deals for films. You find the coolest stuff!!

Excellent early teaser poster!
I have to read the script again soon! I wonder if they are making some changes to it? I remember how I found the original book of The Prestige a little eerie...and was glad that the movie itself did not delve into the subject I found a little weird. In the original script of PRISONERS, I did not expect the level of cruelty that Keller was capable of -- I wonder how they will handle that?

If they're already releasing a teaser poster, they must be pretty confident that none of the cast will back out at this stage. Also, that poster reminds me of another one but I can't figure out which and it's driving me crazy. I do love the tagline, though.
