Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past - Opening May 23rd, 2014 (Originally June 18th, 2014)
Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Opening July 18th, 2014 (Originally May 23rd, 2014)
Michael Fassbender's Assassin's Creed - Opening June 19th, 2015 (Originally May 22nd, 2015)
Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2 - Opening July 3rd, 2015 (19 Years After the Original)
Tim Burton's Peregrine's Home for Peculiars - Opening July 31st, 2015

I guess it also confirms indirectly that Hugh will not be in any spring 2014 opening of HOUDINI, if he is going to help promote DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Is that of him with Nicholas Hoult again? If so, it seems the bulk of Hugh's work (that's set in the 70s at least) is with Hank McCoy prior to becoming Beast. I don't remember any strong Wolverine/Beast story-lines in any of the comics I've read so I'm curious to see why they're teamed up.

These timeline issues are confusing to be sure. I know he played around with trying to turn his transformation on and off but I don't know where in the timeline it became permanent. In First Class, set in early 60s, I thought it might be permanent but here he is in the 70s as Hank so??? In some of the cartoon Xmen shows beast & wolvie are involved in things together sometimes but not sure how close this follows the DoFP comics story line or if they share a lot of the story. I'll have to check with the comic geeks I know for the answer I think...although in the marvel universe things are always subject to change.

Hugh Jackman Going Nude For 'X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST'?


Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine) all but confirms that he'll be the mutant that gets sent back in time in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Plus, Hugh has a nude scene? Is he time-traveling "Terminator" style?

It seems all but confirmed at this point that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will be the one to travel back in time in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Hugh says he spent about 6 weeks filming with his old co-stars from the first "X-Men" and now he's filming with the young stars from "X-Men: First Class."

Also, Hugh vaguely implies that there will be some sort of nude scene in the film, which immediately brings to mind (unwanted) images of a nude, time-traveling Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cyborg killer in "Terminator."...

It seems the speculation came from the Hugh interview on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD. Unfortunately, I cannot access ( no pun intended) it.

It was pretty clear that Hugh was joking about a scene in which, like the Naked Cowboy, he'd wear "only boots," LOL -- although the Cowboy certainly wears undies.

He also called the X-Men: First Class crew “some of the best actors around,” and confirmed that he’ll be playing his character in sequences starring both groups (something fans already assumed).

“Last time in this we had jeans and no shirt, but now we’re down to just boots,” Jackman joked. “You know the Naked Cowboy out here in Times Square? That’s what we’re modeling it off. I know there’s no reference for it in the comic, but we found a real-life reference and it just seems right.”

If I were a betting man, I'd put a little money down on the possibility of 20th Century Fox featuring "Days Of Future Past" at their Comic-Con panel this weekend.

For one thing, it's the single most important franchise that the studio owns at the moment. They are determined to figure out how to keep "X-Men" movies churning out for the near future, and a big part of that game plan is getting this next movie right. Sure, they're hoping "The Wolverine" is a hit with audiences, but the one that has to work is "Days Of Future Past." After all, it's based on arguably the biggest storyline to ever be published in that series, and if they do get it right, they'll be able to cross their original trilogy with the rebooted "First Class" in a way that means it is all part of one big series.

For another thing, the secret seems to not be terribly secret at this point. The only titles that Fox has officially announced for the panel are "The Wolverine" and "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes," and even in private correspondence, they are playing very coy about the notion of "Days Of Future Past" showing up there. The thing is, speaking as someone who's seen "The Wolverine," they are definitely going to bait the hook for next summer's mega-sequel in that film, and it would make perfect sense to really start the push now.

One thing that is rumored to be happening is an official acknowledgement that Peter Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask, the man who created the Sentinels. I remember when Tom Rothman famously told the creative team behind the first three films that he would never allow anyone to put giant robots in any "X-Men" movie as long as he was at the studio. The closest they came was that gag at the start of "The Last Stand," and even there, they were under strict orders not to get too specific. I'm not sure why Rothman had such a problem with the idea of giant robots (he must have loved "Pacific Rim" this weekend), but he was adamant that we would never see the Sentinels. Now we're going to see perhaps the most famous storyline that involves them, and I'm very curious to see how the adaptation works out.

According to Vulture, there are some pretty big differences here, and it sounds like at least one of them was made to keep Wolverine front and center. I can't imagine we'll see many more films where Hugh Jackman plays this character, so they're going to get the most mileage out of him that they can while he's still onboard. I'm a little baffled by the rumor that Josh Helman will be playing a young Bill Stryker. This is after he's been played by both Brian Cox and Danny Huston. Is Stryker now the single most important villain in the entire "X-Men" series? Do we really need a third actor to play the part?

As you can see in the photo embedded above, Lucas Till is also now confirmed to be returning. He played Havok in "First Class," and it looks like he's gone military in the image that Bryan Singer revealed today.

I think this sounds like it could either be the epic that ties the whole X-Men universe together, or an overly busy disaster, but I doubt it'll be anything less than memorable. We'll have news on this and everything else that happens at the San Diego Comic-Con starting here tomorrow, so check it out.

X-Men: DoFP Character Confirmations, New Pic and Plot Synopsis

I hope you’re in the mood for some news regarding X-Men: Days of Future Past, because I have some good stuff for you.

First up, Vulture has some character confirmations.

We all knew (or at least highly speculated) that Peter Dinklage was playing Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels. Vulture has now confirmed this.

The other character is one we didn’t know about, and that is who Josh Helman is playing: William Stryker.

This makes Helman the third actor to play the character. In X2: X-Men United Bryan Cox played him and in X-Men Origins: Wolverine Danny Huston filled the shoes. Since DoFP takes place roughly ten years before Origins, it makes sense for him to be younger.

Next we have new pic from the set courtesy of Bryan Singer, and it’s of a familair face from X-Men: First Class:


Yes, Lucas Till is back as Alex “Havoc” Summers.

Here’s the caption Singer tweeted with the shot:

Last we have a description of what the plot of the film will be. As we know from the title it will be based in part on Chris Claremont’s Days of Future Past story line.

In Singer’s take, Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future.

As Vulture posits, it’s a safe bet this is where Rogue make her self useful.

Based on the scoop by Vulture, is Wolverine the only time-traveller? I have read the comic book on DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and my recollection is that Kitty also does some time travel.


Will Wolverine suffer the same fate with the sentinels or has that portion also been rewritten?


It looks like there is an intention to put WOLVERINE in the heart and center of the plot again. LOL - some fanboys will be complaining again...but most fangirls will be happy smiley-happy082


I guess that was why Hugh was spending the most time in Montreal.

Looks like Days of Future Past had a 'surprise' panel at Comic-Con. The article I read was short but it had these photos that were released from the movie.

Bottom left is Past Logan and bottom right is Future Logan. I have to say, I'm really liking the gray in Future Logan's hair. Very sexy.

Comic Con has revealed quite a bit in regards to X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, from Sentinal heads to character posters, but we’ve yet to see any footage, particularly of the “future” aspect. Leave it to Comic Con to unveil that kind of awesome.

But first, there’s a certain mutant that had his day in court: THE WOLVERINE. Director James Mangold stepped out on stage and introduced an actionriffic sizzle reel shown in 3D that serves as a kind of wrap up of badassery, splicing in a shit ton of action footage from the release, which includes the titular character once again saying “Go f*ck yourself” in an X-film. There was plenty of unseen footage, including a scene were THE WOLVERINE pulls a katana from his chest after killing a samurai. “What kind of monster are you?”
“I’m the Wolverine.”

Hugh Jackmen then came onstage with Mangold and the two talked about how happy they were to work on the project, with Jackman saying that we would finally get to see “the berserker rage in full.” Mangold mentioned the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller mini series a number of times as a reference point for the film. Jackman, ever the classy and humble guy, called up Len Wein, the creator of Wolverine to shake his hand and thank him for his career, which is probably one of the coolest and respectable things I’ve seen an actor do in a long time.
Once done with THE WOLVERINE presentation, Hugh Jackman segued without a beat by introducing director Bryan Singer, who emerged a little nervously and quickly moved to the presentation of the teaser for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST in 3D.

Without doing a complete blow by blow of the entire thing, I’ll hit the highlights:
The trailer begins with voice over by Patrick Stewart’s Professor X under Hans Zimmer’s INCEPTION score. The images dissolve into a number of scenes, many of them looking like an apocalyptic future showing off Halle Berry as Storm, Shawn Ashemore as Iceman, Ellen Page as Kitty Pride, Anna Paquin as Rogue (and rocking what looks like the green and white outfit finally) and then Wolverine and Professor X wearing souped up futuristic battle gear. When they cut to a close up of Wolverine you can clearly see that he has the gray-striped hair that’s synonymous with the Days of Future Past storyline.

Professor X says something to the effect of “I need you to help me as I did you” and proceeds to say “Guide me. Lead me. Be patient with me,” which prompts Wolverine to say “Patience isn’t my strong suit.” Then, we cut into a series of action sequences under the pumping INCEPTION score, showing old and new favorites in various forms of action from both the modern era and the ‘70’s, including Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellan, Omar Sy (as Bishop), and James McAvoy as a long-haired, obviously stressed out Professor X. We see shots of President Nixon, Peter Dinklage (who is revealed to be Bolivar Trask), Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Ian McKellen in an updated Magneto costume, Boo Boo Stewart as Warpath, Fan Bingbing as Blink, and so much more. The teaser ends with the Patrick Stewart Professor X face-to-face with the James McAvoy Professor X saying something to the effect of we “need you to come back.”

For me, the teaser represented the X-MEN film I wanted back in 2000, which is an epic, full-scale X-film that traverses all the boundaries of its vast universe. The action is big, refined and it finally starts to realize the full potential of the mutant universe. The merging of the themes, costumes, and timeframes in the films has finally caught up to those in the comics and it’s got me excited for the X-MEN again.

The panel afterwards revealed the massive cast of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PRESENT, including Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Evan Peters, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore, who all took the stage and did some Q&A.

Director Bryan Singer said that he likes “ensemble films” and even though it was a bit of a nightmare to coordinate such a large cast, he prefers it, pointing out that he started with that kind of cast with THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Halle Berry seemed to be perplexed that Storm never “gets any love” in terms of a romantic counterpart, while Anna Paquin said it was “incredible” to come back after 13 years, as she was 17 when hired for the first X-MEN and has since had a rather fortuitous career.

Hugh Jackman once again reiterated that he was “up for” a Wolverine team up with the other side of the Marvel fence, but relented that it’s up to people way above his head. Screenwriter Simon Kinberg stated that the new film is really about the original stories in the comics and honoring the source material, which seemed to make many fans happy.

Evan Peters, the newest and somewhat controversial team member as Quicksilver (the same character being “introduced” in THE AVENGERS sequel) simply stated that his take on the character was that he was “very fast; talks quick, moves quick” which prompted Michael Fassbender to say, “He’s got excellent genes,” eluding to the father-son aspect of Quicksilver to Magneto. Singer also stated that Quicksilver’s costume will be of the ‘70’s era, but didn’t specify what that meant.

Lastly, the panel was asked which X-Man they’d like to play if not the one they were already cast, with the surprising answers coming from Hugh Jackman, who said he’d like to be Deadpool and James McAvoy, who said he’d like to be Gambit.

All said in done, I have a newfound buzz for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PRESENT, which really looks like the evolution of our favorite mutants that many of us have hoped for. One thing is for sure: it’s going to be the biggest of all the X-films, either literally, figuratively, or hopefully both.

THE WOLVERINE opens on July 26, 2013, followed by X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST on May 23, 2014.

And to think that HJ was just replacement casting for Wolverine in XMEN-1! Now he is introducing two back-to-back XMEN movies which he both topbills!





Hugh is seated right in the center of the two casts ( the past and the future) - highlighting the buzz that he is the XMan who will time-travel both timeframes. Will he get top billing - I think so

The press conference seemed a little awkward to me, as not everyone seemed very much at ease facing the public and expressing their views. But you could sense that the " theatre-trained" ( Patrick, Ian, Hugh, James, Michael) and Halle had stage presence. Where were Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore?

A little sad not to see Famke Janssen and James Marsden from the the original movie.

Yeah Nancy; that is Anna Paquin in the blue and white dress. Ellen Page is the other one standing on a box. I'm curious as to why the boxes were needed. They look like they're similar height to Halle Berry and she isn't on a box and neither in Peter Dinklage. Plus, you can see them in the photos so it's not like they were trying to hide them. It's seems odd.

I haven't watched the conference so if you were asking where Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore were during them, they may have been doing a conference for their own shows. 'True Blood' and 'The Following' both had their own panels, I believe, so they may not have been able to do them both but were able to make it for the photos. Just a guess.
