Hugh explains why he has become committed to using social media, while James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender still express hesitance over using it -- browngirlslovefassy.tumblr.com/post/81938291852/michael-fassbender-james-mcavoy-talk-about-whyMy own thinking and paraphrasing parts of what he said -- *Hugh is a mass communications/journalism graduate who probably appreciates the importance of this massively-growing tool for reaching the public. *He knows that this has emerged as a great way to use as a marketing tool -- look at all the tweets/half-tweets ( not just from Hugh but directors like B.Singer and James Mangold) which have aroused so much interest on their movies about to be released or being planned. And look at how the spread of the news becomes an internet wildfire! It is also the least expensive marketing tool around! *Part of why many things can go viral on the internet are due to "share" and " retweet" features! *He connects with the fans -- and we know he has such a genuine attitude about the people who support him. He has shared not just career plans or details while in a project but he has also been generous with personal details ( via tweets or photos) without intruding on his family's privacy. Of course his love tweets to his wife are always welcome . He shares details that gives his fan a more complete picture of him as a man, a performer, and a social advocate. His sense of humor also shows up in his tweets. And his love of taking pictures have found a home in his instagrams *He says that he appreciates what he learns from the feedbacks to him from fans! He also enjoys some of the things he has learned from these interactions, no matter how brief. Some could be a display of humor or art or just plain Thank-Yous! He doesn't even mind when they correct his spellings, such as for Montreal "Canadiens" ( instead of "Canadians") - LOL! But what a brouhaha at the start of his tweeting days, when it was likely that an assistant tweeted for him something about the Sydney Opera "Centre" ( when it has never been known other than the Sydney Opera "HOUSE"!) - lol! Hugh is probably one of the rare actors who has now mastered the use of this un-escapable means of communication! Jo

Just guessing, of course, but -- Re the point that he looks younger -- he might be referring to the beard trim? Recently, when he was asked if his beard was for the Blackbeard portrayal, he said that it was...but that he may still have a few months to grow it out further ( contrary to original plans for PAN to start filming in May) -- so maybe, he is getting a trim for public appearances including premieres for Days of Future Past, his charity events ( Harlem Village Academy, the Clinton reception on May 1) and maybe even for the TONYs ( June 8)? As to his saying he looks like 15 years younger - maybe because there is less grey in the trimmed beard Jo

Probably... But this is the Chappie look -- Unless they wanted to give the Chappie Hugh character a slightly different and more trim beard ( but to reshoot for only that???)...although his appearance for DOFP promos also showed trim facial hair, if just a bit longer? I wonder how they restored the mullet look - with hair extensions?? -- Also maybe because of a possible delay in the PAN filming, too Jo

To think that they almost worked together more than 20 years ago? In Hugh's famous story, he was offered a role in NEIGHBOURS ( the big Kylie Minogue/Jason Donovan/Guy Pearce Aussie soap opera!) but decided to decline it, to the annoyance of his younger sister ( Rowan) Of course we know that Kylie would become a major pop star later on! I wonder if there could be an occasion for Hugh and Kylie ever get to sing together? Maybe she can be a guest when he launches his foundation, with a cabaret, on May 17 in Perth? Did you ever watch NEIGHBOURS? I did, to learn to understand the Aussie accent- my job called for talking regularly to foreign fund managers then ...Did you know Russell Crowe once appeared in the show in his early years as an actor? It must be difficult to style men's hair and maybe trim the beard when the subject has to :
*Be seen in public soon in a series of red carpet appearances and media interviews! *Be seen on TV as entertainer/host at the TONYs *Be preparing for likely hair extensions or a wig and also beard extensions, when he becomes the movie BLACKBEARD.
Did Chris M fly in to NYC, as his base is Beverly Hills?

Hugh shares their moment at the Met Ball. Many years back, Hugh performed at the Met Ball - I wonder if he will ever do that again? Not sure what year that was - could have been in 2004? Jo

I was half-expecting this -- not his tweet ( but that will likely come later?) -- an opportunity not to be missed such as being in London in late June to early July!
Royal Box at Centre Court on Wimbledon fortnight- wow!
Will look for him when we get the coverage. I wonder if he is going to watch Nadal later on?

Must have been at the dress rehearsals?
Will Irv join him for the PAN filming? I wonder if Jess Platt will also be there, as someone else has been dialog coach as of this time?

Ian Rickson is the British director for THE RIVER. Hugh is very posh today - sitting at the Royal Box at Wimbledon Other photos -- Hugh saying Hello to last year's ladies singles champion, Marion Bartolli! Hugh has no vanity - he could have worn the hat he came in with

Someone's already uploaded this clip of Hugh at Wimbledon and media puzzling over his look. The tennis commentator says he looks "sinister " - LOL! www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9hiD0F9GVUIn the middle of the video is a glimpse of Rafa Nadal taking a drink -- Hugh was watching that game, which had me on edge somewhat. Two of my favorites in one video Jo

Part of the bucket list aspect of Wimbledon is being invited on the famous terraces overseeing the courts, where sometimes Queen Elizabeth would meet some of the tennis players during the rare times she comes to see some tennis. Hugh is shown in one of the terraces. Marion, a Frenchwoman, won last year's Wimbledon and promptly retired from competition after many ups and downs in her career. Sabine, who's from Germany, was last year's Cinderella story whose pumpkin did not last till midnight - she lost to Marion at the finals. I didn't realize she is such a tall player ( she has also slimmed down). Hugh saw Serena win the US Open last year. Now he has an open invitation at Wimbledon

Vamos!!!! smiley-love029 I wonder if Hugh knows that Rafa loves musical theatre -- he says he has seen Phantom of the Opera quite a number of times ( he loves the music!)?? Two of my favorite people, both known for their versatility, dedication, and professionalism in their professions...and for their " famous ass-es" ( as described by Rafa) Jo

Those who have had a chance to meet Hugh at the stagedoor or a red carpet premiere know that he is sincere and delightful in his dealing with fans!
He loves being a fan himself!
