Grainy, but you can still see how handsome these two gentlemen showmen are!

It looks like this is the original source of the set photo -- http://instagram.com/p/BQbeDgAFOnI They filmed the above scene on Saturday, February 11... The following day, Hugh was doing the media junket with fans who won various contests to see a preview screening of lOGAN and a chance to interview Hugh. He is working very hard these days. He is going to Berlin in time for the world premiere of LOGAN on Friday, February 17...and the rest of the tour in various countries will likely follow.

Casting calls for filming for the final scene ( but not necessarily the end of filming) -- www.2017auditions.com/hugh-jackman-movie-casting-final-scene/They're probably filming out of sequence, as most films are wont to do. I hear filming may wrap by end-March. Seeing that they started filming end-November and took a 2-3 week Christmas break, they are probably a little ahead of the indicated closing month of filming? Jo

If true, hope nobody got hurt and the damage is not substantial. New York Post reports on the incident -- nypost.com/2017/02/14/real-life-fire-drama-on-set-of-hugh-jackman-zac-efron-flick/Sorry that a real fire blazed out of control -- but ironic that it would make the scene in the movie unexpectedly even more spectacular! Glad that there seems to be no one who was hurt, actors and firemen both! I hear that the fire will not necessarily cause that much delay in the filming. Jo

Just because he is Wolverine, they are making Hugh carry people in movies or TV shows (Meg R in Kate and Leopld, Hathaway at the 2009 Oscars, Lynn C/Kayla in Origins, Redmayne in Les Miserables, Patrick Stewart in Logan, and now Efron in Showman) I guess that is one of the reasons why he decided to give up his Wolverine persona Jo

Not sure if that was the staged fire or the fire gone awry!

Hello guys! Its been a while since I went here. Anyways, last night I watched La La Land and let me tell you guys that the songs are catchy as heck and I can't stop singing some tunes. I'm really happy TGS got Pasek and Paul for the music of TGS.
As for the whole movie itself, it's beautiful. The fact that I'm forgetting I'm watching a 2016 setting in a movie, I thought it was set in the 1950s! The movie is beautiful and Emma and Ryan were great.
So why did I mention La La Land on this thread? Mainly because the music lyricists are the same as TGS so I'm excited to see TGS. I was afraid at first TGS MIGHT ebd up as a carbon copy of La La Land but after watching it I realized I think TGS will be more of a family-friendly musical like Mary Poppins. And like what articles mentioned, I think its actually gonna be bigger than La La Land in terms of the setting and music. I'm crossing my fingers that TGS will be a big hit to the critics!

From a recent Sunday Times interview -- Fred and Ginger of today Michael Gracey has directed commercial ads with fantastic dance sequences -- intricate and exhilarating. I wonder what he planned for Michelle and Hugh? Jo

During the press conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil for LOGAN, Hugh was asked about what lies ahead in the future for his career. His immediate answer was to say that he is currently working on a movie musical called THE GREATEST SHOWMAN, about a man named P.T. Barnum who probably was one of those who dared to be different ( or words to that effect). He said that it is the polar opposite of LOGAN He also said that he expects filming to be completed within a month or so! Jo

CONGRATULATIONS to Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for winning the OSCAR ( together with Justin Hurwitz) for the original song CITY OF STARS from LA LA LAND! Hope they repeat next year for THE GREATEST SHOWMAN!

I am posting this here because of what happened at the Oscars...and what may be the implications to GREATEST SHOWMAN -- *There was an unbelievable faux pas at the Oscars where the wrong winner for Best Picture was announced. Initially LaLaland was announced as Best Picture and while someone was making his speech -- the organizers immediately announced that there was an error. It seems that Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given the envelope with the announcement of Emma Stone for Best Actress ... and they proceeded to announce LALALAND as the winner. This was corrected - and the envelope showing MOONLIGHT as the winner was shown on TV and a rectification of the error was announced! It was very embarrassing for the LalaLand people! But they had to make the correction in the interest of fairness! *What are the implications to THE GREATEST SHOWMAN? Someone here brought up earlier the downgrading of the chances of SHOWMAN if Lalaland wins - as the AMPAS may not be keen to honor another movie musical in back-to-back years. That has happened in the past as a rarity ( My Fair Lady followed by Sound of Music) and other movie musicals have also been honored with wins ( West Side Story/Chicago) and nods ( Moulin Rouge/Les Miserables, etc). What are the possible implications then to SHOWMAN because of what happened? First, we assume that SHOWMAN will be an exceptionally well-made film with the potential of very high praise from critics! Hmmm... *Lalaland lost as Best Picture !! That potentially strengthens the chances of SHOWMAN! Also, because of the way Lalaland was embarrassed by the erroneous declaration that it won -- AMPAS will likely be extra-kind to SHOWMAN next year. To make amends for the embarrassment for Lalaland! *Ryan Gosling did not win either, even if he was praised by the announcer as being a true triple-threat! That gives Hugh the chance to win for SHOWMAN even better! Also, there were some criticisms that Ryan did not perform his song and dance routine live ( John Legend did it for him and Emma) -- and if Hugh does, that makes him a more credible potential winner! *Hugh's competition could be his own LOGAN role! And coming from the same studio (Fox) -- I guess it will depend on which one will get the stronger awards buzz and the stronger studio support! The advantage of SHOWMAN is that it will be released towards the end of the awards season, while LOGAN is released early in the year. *Pasek and Paul have stronger chances for a repeat - we know they wrote the entire score for SHOWMAN -- about a dozen or more songs. We have heard "This Is Me" -- and that seems like a spectacular and probably a very poignant number. I think the chances are very, very good for P&P! *If Michelle is also nominated - she may have a chance as that would be her 5th nod! I am assuming that the film itself and the portrayals will all be exceptional, artistically-speaking! Now we have to watch for upcoming dramatic movies down the line. At least the disadvantage of having to follow a winner in the same sub-genre is no longer present. Maybe this is all wishful thinking on my part Jo

One thing though, the AMPAS seemed to have favored movies that reflect on the realities of life, including with the acting honors.
Will a family-friendly musical based on the biopic of a controversial historical figure win favor with the AMPAS voters?
GREATEST SHOWMAN does honor diversity in the song THIS IS ME... and of course we don't know how else the script will play out. It was written by Michael Arndt who won an Oscar for LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE -- so maybe it will not be a simple family-friendly movie after all...and the storytelling and the characterizations will be superb!

I watched the Oscars delayed about 45 minutes on my DVR and I rewound it to watch the screw-up again. The envelope appeared to be the same one handed to the La La Land guy. Were there 2 envelopes in play? The one they (Beatty and Dunaway) handed the guy was the one the show producer grabbed, looked at, returned to him, then the guy held it up to the camera to show it said Moonlight. I think maybe Beatty tried to take the fall for Faye Dunaway. Very confusing! And this said Beatty read it wrong, when it was Dunaway that said La La Land!! www.msn.com/en-us/movies/oscarsvideo/beatty-reads-out-the-wrong-best-film-winner/vi-AAnu9hNNancy

Two accountants (one at either side of the stage) with identical briefcases and duplicate sets of envelopes. Beatty was apparently handed the envelope from the *previous* (Best Actress) category. [and the winner is - - "Emma Stone, LA LA Land"] Dunaway read the name of the movie.

Here's what we know of the new film project of DDLewis ( Thank goodness it is not another end-story of Wolverine ... OR Logan Jackman just might go SNIKT again ), about fashion designer Charles James. www.vulture.com/2016/06/paul-thomas-anderson-movie-charles-james.htmlAn update on the project status itself -- If it's going to be toe-to-toe with another (more) famous American icon, we'll see which one the American critics and public will go for! Btw, I do follow the fashion scene historically-speaking but I have never heard of him... the first ones who made an impact from early memories were Dior and Chanel to me. But if I were to suggest a biopic -- it would have to be about the emotionally-tortured but highly talented and innovative Yves Saint Laurent! His life would make good copy and his innovations affect contemporary fashion to this day! Jo
