I'm new at this and not sure if this will work, or if this is the place to post it, but here goes: I found this video on YouTube which is an "oldie" but new to me (though maybe not to a lot of you). Since we're in a nostalgic mood, and digging up old photos, here is the link to Hugh singing the opening number at the Australian Film Institute Awards in 1997. So young, and pretty funny too. Alma, thank you for sharing this wonderful clip. This prepared him for all of his hosting gigs at the Tonys and Academy Awards.

So young, so funny, and so jauntily sung in his lower register. Wish he'd revisit that region more often.

That is so cute! I’ve had just the audio for a while, but this is the first I’ve seen of the video!

Wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so I posted it here. I'm not sure if any of you have seen this old interview or not, but I thought you might enjoy it. It's not the best quality, but it is an interview of Hugh from 1999! Both he and Deb are interviewed here and the young man in this interview has absolutely no idea what is about to happen in his life. Enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_Z92gw2oYI

Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Early on, Sir Trevor Nunn certainly saw the immense versatility in talent of this young, charismatic actor.
I hope they can get together again, onstage, someday!

I've wondered for a long time, why aren't Hugh's Australian films/TV shows released on compatible format in all countries? Russell Crowe, Mel Gibson, and others have their work available here in the U.S. Why not Correlli? Erskinville Kings? Paperback Hero? Yes, we can watch them on computers or multi-region DVD players, but why should we have to do that? Hugh is a big star. You would think that distributors would jump at the chance to release his early work here in the U.S.

More nostalgia -- Here's a Youtube audio clip (covering images are poetic nature scenes) of Hugh singing with Debra Byrne, mainly NO ONE IS ALONE and a little of CHILDREN WILL LISTEN from the Sondheim musical INTO THE WOODS. It is part of a solo CD of Debra (New Ways to Dream) in which she invited Sunset Boulevard co-star Hugh Jackman to join her in a duet. I guess Hugh never realized that eventually, like Debra (Fantine in the stage production and in the Complete Symphonic Recording), he will also become a Les Mis alumni www.youtube.com/watch?v=W14-bH2fWpo Hugh's singing is so soft and smooth - like a soothing lullaby! I wonder if he will be singing SUDDENLY, the new song from Les Miserables, in the same manner? Jo

I would love to have Erskinville Kings and Paperback Hero on DVD. The copies I have are either VHS or a badly ripped copy I got off e-bay thinking it was the real thing. - Alicia

I don't think that was from the Wolverine set - if the indication is from his facial and head hair.
It was probably from Les Miserables, during the early days of filming ( he showed us his cropped- to- the scalp hair and the full facial hair looked more like Valjean during his convict/ parolee years than Wolverine). Also, maybe it was at the time that his Twitter account had reached a million "followers"?

Here are some links I found that you may try. The first one is the least expensive, has the same cover image and is about the same price that I paid. The other 2 are more expensive. Mine has some special features. Haven't watched those in a while but I think there was some behind the scenes interview stuff. Anyway here are the links if anyone is interested. Or, buy the Aussie DVDs (region whatever they are) and get a Cyberhome DVD player which I believe plays all regions.

I did have an old DVD player that the Australian DVDs worked on, but it died. However, my original point was that the DVD's themselves should be released in all region formats. Many Australian films are available that way. Hugh is a big enough star that his early work should be available in all formats.

I thought I should post the link to the wonderful Youtube video of Hugh singing two songs. The first is a great rock version of "The Letter" and the second is what my husband and I think is the an extraordinarily moving version of the Richard Marx song "To Where You Are". We discovered this song just after a close friend of ours died tragically from pancreatic cancer. We emailed the link to his widow, to whom it meant so much that she played a recording of the Josh Groban version at the memorial service. However, we think Hugh's version is light years better than the Groban version. Apologies if the link has been posted before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tevwb2btr-o

I don't know where/when this is from, or what the (foreign) newswoman is babbling about, but Hugh looks amazing working out in the gym.

He does look fantastic--although some of his gym expressions could just as easily connote passing a kidney stone, LOL. What an intense workout! Thanks, Valerie.

Hugh, on the panel of something that looks like an Aussie version of The Gong Show.

Those acts are from hunger! Did the format of "Hey, Hey, It's Saturday" change? I believe that was the show on which Hugh sang the title song to "Sunset Blvd"--and didn't he also sing and waltz with SB costar Debra Byrne on another segment of that show? I guess you can't have too many Gong Shows, LOL. He does look adorable in those glasses and long hair, trying to be as charitable as possible to the "talent."
