A pity that they are not going to hold a premiere in Paris! But the publicity campaign in France seems innovative -- the table in a French Café laminated with the poster...and now this funny and unique ad. Hugh Jackman is really the face of the entire XMEN franchise! And if you pay extra attention, our favorite mutant shows up right at the beginning Jo

They found a way for Hugh to attend the Beijing premiere! english.cri.cn/6666/2014/05/06/102s825160.htmTo sum up Hugh's schedule -- *NYC premiere - May 10 *London premiere - May 12 *Beijing premiere - May 13 *Singapore premiere - May 14 *Melbourne premiere - May 16 Plus he is holding the Jackman Furness Foundation inauguration and cabaret in Perth on May 18! Maybe they are taking the X-Jet, or at the very least a (Fox) private plane, with them. London to Beijing ( approx 9 1/2 flying hours, flying across many time zones going eastward, Beijing 7 hours ahead of London)...Beijing to Singapore ( approx 6 1/2 flying hours, with no difference in timezones)...and Singapore to Australia ( approx 7 flying 1/2 hours, with a 2-hour difference in time zones, flying eastward) are long-haul and medium-haul flights! Yikes!! No wonder Hugh is thinking of saying Goodbye to Wolverine at some point Maybe they should have had Ellen Page ( Kitty Pryde) with the entourage so they can simply do some time travel instead Jo

Wow - someone immediately uploaded the GMA appearance on YouTube! www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEiL3rNYOtA&feature=youtu.beLoved that bit about Hugh doing vocal warmups in his trailer by singing Les Mis! According to James McAvoy It is nice that he keeps acknowledging Lauren Shuler Donner as his true talent scout! Also, I think his new haircut is suiting him quite well, with his facial hair. Jo

I'd like to see them do a movie together. Jon Hamm's new movie, "Million Dollar Arm", looks like it might be a fun one.

At the press conference in NYC for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST --
Hugh did not look too great, with his recent surgical procedure still showing its effect on his face.
But he is still a true professional, despite the health issues he has to cope with. I wonder if he has been advised to reconsider his punishing schedule for premieres in London, Beijing, Singapore, and Melbourne, all from May 12 to May 16, due to medical reasons?
Hope he recovers well soon!

But in what must have been a lighthearted moment-- If I were Lauren Shuler Donner and the powers-that-be at FOX, I would consider a non-XMEN movie with these three guys

Were you able to catch the live coverage (Yahoo, on live stream) of the XMEN:DOFP NYC premiere? *First time that I have seen a red( actually, black) carpet movie premiere inside a huge structure. Usually, you get to see them walk the red carpet or maybe a slighlyt larger outdoor space (like Leicester Sq in London) but this one looked like a convention hall smiley-excited001 *Hugh was the first to arrive and be interviewed! He really is the face of the franchise! And when challenged, he tried doing the work of the hosts/emcees! Comes naturally *Sir Patrick brings so much Englishness-class to his real life persona. He was interviewed alongside Scot James McAvoy. *Michael Fassbender somehow strikes me at not really being fully comfortable with stuff like this. He is more at home emoting, unlike Hugh who relishes everything. *Jennifer Lawrence is very down to earth. It looks like she is still busy completing filming for her other franchise. If I am not mistaken, she is also a lefty ( while signing autographs). *Nicholas Hoult - I never realized that his character Beast has physical similarities ( blue is the warmest color!) with that of his real-life girlfriend, Jen, who plays Mystique. Both took 3 hours to get their makeup done. *Nice to see Famke Jansenn ( sp?) and James Marsden at the premiere ( do they have "secret" cameos in this movie?). *Peter Dinklage is one of the most articulate of the cast! *I have not realized that Shawn Ashmore has been in the franchise since 14 years ago, too. He was just in a fewer movies of the series compared to Hugh. *Ellen Page looked so tiny next to the statuesque emcee. But she has such a charm! *Fan Bing Bing is very beautiful - probably the most stunning among the ladies present! *Lauren Schuler Donner - it is really down to her! Initiating creating the franchise and discovering the actor who has become the face of the franchise - Wolverine! *It was mentioned that real cinema facilities seating 1500 was actually built within the Javits Center for this film premiere. I wonder if the 500 lucky fans were going to see the movie there or they were just given movie passes to watch at another nearby cinema ( maybe closer to Times Sq?)? Something that struck me -- in the words of James Marsden -- the continuing appeal of this franchise is down to the fact that the movies in the series "never got silly!" How true- the XMEN movies have serious themes and the characters, while embued with extraordinary powers, were grounded and relatable to some extent. Amazing how the crowd knew their XMEN characters onstage so well. Many were dressed as some of the characters (not all Wolverine, although someone came in the famous "wifebeater" despite the weather) and expressed preference for different favorites. It is like the comic book characters simply merged with the screen personas faultlessly! One other observation -- it is a real international cast...and the marketing thrust of worldwide premieres is really appropriate! The coverage took more than an hour - and it was the first time that a world premiere could be shared by so many! I am glad that the generation gap did not discourage me from ever using technology as part of everyday life, even for momentous events like this( which used to be faraway wishful thinking)!

They will be in the premieres for Beijing, Singapore, and Melbourne together ( not too sure about London) -- She's a big star in China, so hopefully that will raise the profile of the movie significantly in that market (although The Wolverine did pretty well there, with $ 40 million in less than a month release) --

Russell will think it is a hoot if he learns that his mate was singing Les Mis songs for vocal warmups in his trailer ( as disclosed by James McAvoy!) , while filming DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Jo
