X-Men: Apocalypse Filming

The "critic" could have made that up (or trying to be annoyingly funny)...or maybe Hugh's appearance in the movie is really a gag cameo?

But what I did not like is the mention that Hugh needs time "so he can get a decent steroid-cycle going" -- implying that Hugh is a known user of banned steroids to get his Wolverine physique! He has obviously not seen the many Instagram photos that Hugh posts showing him in hard training before any Wolverine movie or just keeping fit through regular gym visits.

It's annoying when "critics" or any media people make careless remarks like this.

If it not a gag cameo -- when could Hugh have filmed the cameo so he does not look fit?

*He was reported to have been part of the reshoots in January of this year. Hmmm...at that time, Hugh had just completed his physically-exhausting Broadway to Oz concert series. He usually loses weight in shows like this...Wasn't it also this time when he started promoting Eddie the Eagle -- doing some physical stunts ( the appearance in the football field with that known football player, being outfitted for a flying suit to fly in a military jet), many interviews where he would wear a light t-shirt underneath a jacket or even trying to reenact the "Dirty Dancing" moment when he tries to lift Taron above.

*Did he have time to film it after filming EDDIE THE EAGLE in the summer of 2015? We saw him in EDDIE in those blue jeans -- who will say that he was not the object of many tweets saying how gorgeous ( and it wasn't just his facial features) he looked

*Or was it the time that he had been promoting PAN? Again, during that time and in the many premieres, he seemed to be in very good physical condition.

just after the third trailer debuted, the filmmaker teased that Wolverine has an important role in X-Men: Apocalypse. And in a new interview with Hey U Guys, he confirms that this version of Wolverine is unlike any we've seen before, after he has come out of the Weapon X program.

Hugh's scene is NOT a gag cameo! What this a**hole "critic" says about his body in this scene, is simply not true and complete bullshit!!! He gets personal and abusive towards Hugh - caused by pure envy! "... decent steroid-cycle ....", that's malicious falsehood, you envious idiot! He wants "the beast"? Wolverine IS the beast in this scene!

Fans hoping for the presence of series regular Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) may be disappointed that he only appears briefly, but what a cameo! Once again, it is NOT a gag cameo by any means!!! "Not-totally-in-shape ..." - it might have been that he wasn't at his very peak of his Wolverine body, but to imply he wasn't in shape is bullshit! This writer obviously hated the movie and puts everything down in it.

LOL - at least, for a cameo, there is a lot of mileage on superhero sites about Hugh's Wolverine appearance

I almost feel that Singer and Kinberg added the Wolverine cameo not just as an afterthought but they probably needed to perk up interest on the movie ( because early screenings might have mirrored how APOCALYPSE is doing with critics now -- Rotten Tomatoes rating continue to be "rotten", currently standing at 54% ). That's okay with me for two reasons :

*So Hugh can be identified with all XMEN movies ( even Deadpool features him in a way ) during his tenure;

*and if that will provide excellent linkage to his WOLVERINE 3 movie.

Although X-Men: Apocalypse’s plot was a lot more streamlined than the time-travel events of Days Of Future Past, the latest mutant-based movie from Fox still requires a fair bit of unpacking. After all, Apocalypse had loads of characters and continent-swapping action.

We pondered where the new movie leaves the X-Men franchise at large, and how it teases potential spin-offs. The spoilers begin after our trusty spoiler squirrel, Daphne...

A number of interesting possibilities, but let me just reprint the speculation about Wolverine --

Wolverine runs off

Hugh Jackman’s cameo as Wolverine - complete with the Weapon X technological apparatus from the comics - was a show-stopping moment in X-Men: Apocalypse. Although the movie didn’t explain how he ended up at William Stryker’s Alkali Lake facility (despite the fact that Mystique pulled Logan from the river at the end of Days Of Future Past), it was still immensely fun to see the feral Wolverine go berserk at Stryker’s men and share a moment with Jean, before jogging off into the snow (‘running back to his own franchise’, as my esteemed colleague James Hunt put it).

What this means for the future of Wolverine remains to be seen. We know from Days Of Future Past that he ends up at X-Mansion with Patrick Stewart many years down the line, but it’s unclear how he gets there or what he does over the decades of time in between. Hugh Jackman has only signed up for one more movie (the third solo Wolverine flick), so there’s not long left for the franchise to provide these answers.

The Wolverine 3 (as the movie won’t end up being called, of course) is set far in the future, in a dystopian and Western-esque environment. Patrick Stewart will appear alongside Mr Jackman. It’ll take either flashbacks or dialogue exchanges to explain what happened to Logan between the 1980s and this dystopian future. That, or someone will have to convince Jackman to sign up for yet more movies.

Perhaps, fitting the old sci-fi adage that time ‘wants to happen’, is that Logan goes off and lives as a loner after the events of Apocalypse. Maybe he does a little cage fighting, before eventually bumping into Rogue and being drawn into events that lead him to X-Mansion again (just like the original X-Men movie). Once more, though, only time will tell what becomes of Wolverine after Apocalypse. There could be something utterly random and unpredictable on the cards.

He had lost all his memory and Jean released him from his cell/cage as a distraction and he was basically like an animal who handily killed all the guards for them. Jean eventually got around to removing his hardware and slightly descrambling his brain a bit to make him human again but said after he ran off she could only find a few memories to bring back.

Wolverine shows up for no reason other than people might like to see him claw at the walls for a few minutes (the only laugh-out-loud scene comes when Hugh Jackman takes one look at the young X-Men and scampers off naked into the forest, looking for all the world like he’s trying to run away from the film itself).

Fans got a treat last month when the final X-Men: Apocalypse trailer teased an appearance by none other than Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Last seen being pulled out of the Potomac by Mystique (in the form of Stryker) in Days of Future Past, a very different Wolverine pops up when several of the mutants are held captive at the Alkali Lake testing facility.

“It’s a very violent, visceral sequence that is different from anything we’ve seen of Wolverine in previous movies and in the way that Hugh played it,” says producer Simon Kinberg.

Director Bryan Singer says it wasn’t hard convincing Jackman: “I talked him through the whole scene. He said, ‘Mate, it’s brilliant. I’m in. Call my agent.’”

Implicatins/speculations of the post-credit scene is not focused on the obvious Wolverine connection alone...but also on Gambit... a tie-up with Apocalypse. All in all, the creation of a completely new story arc with the introduction of MR. SINISTER...as the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy now end. Other discussions say there is also a connection with Deadpool and Cable.

Bryan Singer Was Killed By Wolverine In Hugh Jackman's X-Men: Apocalypse Cameo

Director Bryan Singer has revealed details of Hugh Jackman’s cameo in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ - the star’s final appearance in a mainline X-Men film before his farewell to the character in 2017’s solo spin-off.

Singer also revealed that he stepped in front of the camera to partake in the scene, in a special moment between the pair - whose working relationship began with 2000’s original 'X-Men’.

Thanks - it has been mentioned in several early reports that Bryan had a cameo as a soldier/security guard but no details.

I think it was his way of saying Goodbye to Wolverine as portrayed by Hugh -- that takes them full circle from 1999, when Hugh passed that audition to Hugh's eventual farewell to the role


My one disappointment is why Bryan did not let Kinberg write in a substantial role for Wolverine, so Hugh can properly say Goodbye to the XMEN Team! The movie which reintroduced the superhero genre in a substantive way in 1999 started with Wolverine joining the team for the first time ... why not let him help the team in a more substantive manner for the very last time

Singer also discussed the timing of the scene, which filmed only a few months ago in February. “It’s very important for Hugh that, if he does a scene like this where he’s exposing his body, it be his body and that it be him doing these very dangerous stunts with all this metal flying around.”

The timing worked out because Jackman was in training for his last ever appearance as the character in 2017’s third spin-off - thought to be based on the Old Man Logan comic line.

A few other things happened that month --

*Sadly, Hugh had another skin cancer surgery.

*That was also the time when there was a workshop on Broadway ( Pearl Studios) for FOX executives for Greatest Showman - February 9 or 10

*He was also busy promoting EDDIE THE EAGLE which was released on February 26.
