I came across an old BWW message board discussion of people looking back at TBFO some 3 years after it closed. www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=930417&boardname=&page=1I had contributed an entry that must have been one of the, if not the, longest replies on BWW. But what was very interesting was the unanimous praise for Hugh Jackman even if not everyone was enamoured with the show itself. Jo

I did - I checked it via the EDIT function and the twitter link is there. It didn't show up...or maybe the tweet was removed?
Here's my original post --
EDIT : It doesn't show up again.
I will retype/reprint the link --
EDIT 2 : It is not showing up even if I reprint the link.

Ozalot Day, when we TBFO regulars were invited to stay and shmooze with HJ after the matinee performance, is now exactly 16 years in our rear view mirror. Afterwards, many of us and some cast members (not Hugh, sadly) continued the fun at nearby O’Flaherty’s (now closed). April 18, 2004—what a wonderful, memorable day. Memories like that help us get through these surreal quarantine days.

Had been a fan since July 2000 when the first X-Men movie came out - nearly 20 years ago now!! Nancy

Quoted from above article by MRiedel -- On that glorious final performance, I went crazy and got a ticket on second row, right in the middle of that row. On my left were two people talking before the performance, going like this -- It seemed they were connected with the theatre industry ( presumably powerbrokers from the tone of their discussion) -- one said before the performance " I have never such seen an enthusiastic crowd like this. On an opening night - Yes! But never for a closing show!"the other replied : My wife said I am dead if I cannot get her seats where she wanted! (Jo's note: The wife and their daughter were seated in front of me - on front row! I was also admiring the crocodile Hermes Birkin bag that she was sporting which would have paid for so many seats on that row. All throughtout Mom and daughter were swaying and softly singing with Hugh). That was such an unforgettable night - Management could not stop us from taking pictures that they gave up and simply pleaded at intermission " Please don't use Flash!". Behind me in the next few rows - Barbara Cook, Matt Damon, Patrick Whitesell, Nancy Sinatra, Joel Grey...and Deb, of course I wrote a long account of that final performance - but it was published on the official TBFO board, which preceded our current forum. Sorry, I didn't save the online version. I thought that became part of Show Reports that someone saved on another site...but those files seemed to have been lost, too. PS: In a recent pandemic-time interview, Hugh says he could never forget that Closing Show! Jo

Not sure if this was taken in an earlier-dated performance --
but she was seated a few rows behind me at the closing show.

REUNION Time! ZOOM version LoL - not sure my guesses are all correct I think that's Michael Mulheren ( Auctioneer extraordinaire) at the lowest corner? And that looks like Tyler Hanes with head bowed down. Closing show was on September 12, 2004! Almost sixteen years ago! Great memories ************************************** Original cast (per BWW) www.broadwayworld.com/shows/cast.php?showid=3670

I wonder if these co-stars of Hugh remember a little boy who would be occasionally playing backstage...while waiting for his Dad to finish work for the day His name is Oscar and he is now 20 years old JO

And I believe that’s Michael Halling, second row far right in eyeglasses. He was a standby or understudy for Hugh, as I recall. Of course, he never got to play Peter.

Michael Halling replaced Kevin Spirtas, the original standby for Hugh ( there were designated understudies for the role but Kevin was the sole standby) but never got to play the role. I did see him once, when he performed in lieu of John Hill ( who played Judy's husband). John Hill was one of the Jackman understudies.

Can you believe it ??!!
Sixteen years ago!!
If and when The Music Man eventually happens - too bad the pandemic ( even in its closing stages) will likely not encourage any of the exuberance seen at the stage door of the Imperial way back then.
