Ben Brantley has retired as NY Times drama critic. I loved using the word "reminiscence" in the tweet Ben was definitely reminiscing about Hugh Jackman's star turn in The Boy From Oz Jo

My photo! I also took this photo and because of my vantage point - it came out very well! Interesting story -- I shared a hard copy with someone whom I had asked not to upload it because I wasn't sure that I wouldn't be castigated for taking it. True, they could not stop us in the audience from taking photos - the only caution that stage management could do is to ask us not use FLASH so as not to disturb/distract the performers. However the person uploaded it wthout my knowledge and permission. Eventually, I saw that the photo was being peddled for a fee by an enterprising person who saw the uploaded photo - LOL! Jo

This year's MET GALA at the Metropolitan Museum of New York has come and gone. In the past decade we have seen a few occasions when Hugh and Deb attended the gala. But not many knew that HUGH JACKMAN performed at the 2003 MET GALA, when he was on Broadway for The Boy From Oz. IIRC, Hugh was wearing a Prada suit ( Didn't the TBFO costume designer presented him with some Prada choices for his costumes as Peter Allen - but I don't recall that he chose them?) How young he looked! Jo

Not from the show ( He did not wear black pants with the white with red pineapples shirt in the show) but maybe one of the alternative costumes conceived by William Ivey Long?

Arghh... can't remember now -- except I recall putting my arm around his waist for maybe 2-3 seconds And he was dressed like this - with exposed waist

Someone superimposed various images from the show ( including publicity) on this recording of ALL THE LIVES OF ME (which only made it to the cast album but not in the initial press reels) --

Such wonderful memories! Love how the poster also included a shot or two from the 2006 Australian arena production as well as Good Morning America, when HJ charmed the pants off Diane Sawyer.

Great memory. Closing night was indeed one for the books. So was the Actors Fund performance some months earlier. What a year that was!

I “only” got to see it twice (in March from 2nd row center) and June (from 3rd row, stage right) Hard to believe that was going on EIGHTEEN years ago!! Nancy
