Just saw an ad on TV for ROTG that shows the people doing the voices for the characters. At the end Hugh says "I'm a bunny!" and then laughs.

Just ran across this interview. It could also be placed in the advocacy thread because he talks about that a bit, but he talks about a lot of other things too. Since the purpose of the interview was to talk about RotG I put it here. youtu.be/af1MLxkmLTM VERY OFF TOPIC: I was quite surprised to see on the little headline scroller at the bottom of the video, at about :48 seconds, "US: 18 injured in strip club gas explosion" On Friday evening I had about 15 minutes of panic and terror. My best friend called me and said "Are you watching the news?" I said no... She said "Have you heard from David in the last few minutes?" I said OMG, no what's going on? slight panic setting in... She said "Would he be at work right now?" I said OMG yes! OMG! tears starting... She said "There's been an explosion downtown." I said OMG where, where did it happen? shaky voice, more tears... She said "The corner of Dwight & Worthington where's his studio?" I said OMG that's his corner, I have to go! Hysterical, can hardly talk, I start calling his cell phone while I'm trying to turn on the TV to the right channel but I suddenly forgot how to do that so I didn't get it on a channel with news. No answer on his cell, son #2 calls. "Mom have you heard from David?" no, more crying I'm trying to call him, did you call him. "Yes his cell isn't answering" I remembered "I think I have the shop number somewhere I'll call you back." Found the number called & David answered!! After making sure he was OK I let him know the protocol in these situations..."Next time something blows up near you, you are to call your mother immediately!!!!!" Anyway he got knocked off his feet, the windows of the shop were all blown out and part of the ceiling fell plus pictures off the walls lots of dust and debris everywhere but he was fine and the initial news report that my friend heard had the wrong corner. As he said when I mentioned what she said "If it was this corner, we wouldn't be having this conversation." It was the next corner. It was a miracle that nobody was killed. The building and those right next to it had been evacuated just shortly before the blast so only gas company workers and fire & police were there plus there were some reporters already at the scene and a helicopter in the air so everything was caught on video. There are about 1000 things on YouTube. David was interviewed twice so I was looking on there to see if his interview was posted by someone. I had seen that there were news reports from other countries including BBC news but today was the first I'd seen from Australia! The funny thing is that I was looking for Hugh videos to find interviews from the weekend and wasn't expecting to see that headline on his video! Anyone interested just type Springfield explosion into the YouTube search box. Needless to say that the day after Thanksgiving I was very thankful that the explosion happened a block away from my son and that nobody was killed. Sue

How frightening, Sue! I'm so glad your son is OK. How bizarre that the news report found its way to you from Australia.

Review & thanks: First thank you for the kind words. We all had a big laugh yesterday when we went to see RotG and I told them about watching a Hugh video and seeing the headline about the explosion. We're all very thankful and yes, he knows enough to call mom right away in the future! So we all went to see Rise of the Guardians yesterday. (8 of us) I had mixed feelings about the movie. I liked it overall but thought it could have been better. The art and animation were gorgeous so David, the artist, wants to buy the BluRay immediately. It was very fast paced. A little too fast for me but the little ones stayed interested so maybe that was the point. I thought the story was a stretch in a couple of areas which was the main negative for me but wouldn't really be noticed by little kids. My teenage grandson didn't hate it. It was a little scary in parts but the youngest, three & a half, wasn't scared. She's a tough cookie though so small children who are more easily frightened might have trouble with it. The teenager liked those parts. The bunny was a hoot! Everyone loved him and he got lots of laughs! The odd little elves also got laughs. I didn't really care for the re-working of the elves role. I think they still could have been funny & kept the odd look while retaining the elf lore. It kept the little ones interested, meaning that when they don't like something they squirm & whine, but it didn't get the level of reactions like some of the animated movies that they love. They mostly laughed at the Bunny and the elves. So I'd give Bunnymund a 5 and the animation a 5 also, but only 3.5 for the movie as a whole. Sue

Yes Bunnymund is very funny. He & the odd little elves are the funniest things in the movie. Are you seeing it in a theater? Sue

Sue, what with family doings over Thanksgiving and catching up on lots of things at work so far this week, I haven't had a chance yet to see it in a theater, but I intend to do so this weekend.

Sue, I just read about your scare. So glad it was only that for you. Hugs, Alma Alma, thank you so much! Just wondering if anyone has seen RotG yet? My son called last night and he was still talking about how he wants the BluRay like now! LOL! He was sitting next to the youngest, tough cookie 3yr old Ariana, so I asked if she seemed scared at all during the scary scenes and he said she seemed to really be into it and laughed and clapped even during the scary parts so that was what I thought her reaction was too. My 6yr old grandson was a bit more subdued and was the loudest laugher of our bunch at the funny parts, but not so much at the scary parts. At 3 he would have been under his seat or wanting to go home...not a tough cookie, that one. Ellen, enjoy the movie. Are you seeing it with any children? Looking forward to hearing your impressions. Sue

I saw the movie without kids in tow today. I thought it was clever and beautifully made. Loved when Bunny became a mini-rabbit, LOL. A couple of pre-K children were sitting near me with their parents. One of the kids began crying and then screaming when the nightmare horses swirled around, especially towards the end. You surely do have some "tough cookies" in your family, Sue. Ellen

Yes Ariana is not afraid of anything! But she likes to sing and dance...maybe she'll become a Wolverina! 8-) Sue

QUOTE: Alma, thanks for the Happy Passover wishes. Here's wishing you and all other celebrants a joyous Easter. Be sure to say hi to Bunnymund for me. . I still say Hugh's bunny stole that movie. Ellen ------------- Ellen, would you believe I haven't watched "Rise of the Guardians"? When it opened in Cinemas here, it was dubbed (to Spanish) so I didn't see the point of going. That's what happens to all animated movies down here, we lose the original voices. Even many children's movies filmed with live actors, not animated, suffer the same fate, with only one or two theaters showing them with subtitles in Spanish for only a few days. Then all the dubbed copies take over. But I checked and Blockbuster has it now, so I'll finally get my chance! Alma

Someone suggested a musicalized version of RISE OF THE GUARDIANS --
and said he was inspired by an AMV of THE OTHER SIDE (from The Greatest Showman) with Jack Frost and Bunnymund -- and subsequently found this :

These are sad and introspective times -- to spend Holy Week with religious services confined to broadcast/telecast and online sources. And when Easter comes, the kids will miss their Easter Egg hunts! However -- To all the young people, including the young-at-hearts -- Let Bunnymund shower you with the beautiful colors of Easter Eggs! Hope they show the movie! Jo
