Hugh does have another movie due for release late this year - one in which he becomes the voice of the Easter Bunny -- here's a report on his presence at CineEurope in Barcelona, Spain :

BARCELONA, Spain -- Jeffrey Katzenberg taking the stage sporting a rainbow Afro wig as seen in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and the appearance of Hugh Jackman after DreamWorks Animation unspooled the first 42 minutes of Rise of the Guardians had European theater operators abuzz at CineEurope.

DreamWorks Animation founder and chief Katzenberg returned to CineEurope -- a confab aimed primarily at European exhibitors -- to unspool his sneak peak of the animated fantasy title, directed by Peter Ramsey (Monsters vs. Aliens) and featuring Jackman among the voice cast that includes Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin and Jude Law.

Jackman, who voices the Easter Bunny in the movie, surprised the audience with his appearance and charmed the exhibitors by thanking them for putting his films in theaters.

"If it wasn't for you, I would have been hearing those dreaded words 'straight to DVD' a lot more in my career," he said.

The actor brought his two young children with him and noted they both gave footage "the thumbs up."

Enthused exhibitors greeted the footage with applause.

The Guardians presentation followed an equally well-received reel introduced by Anthony Marcoli, the newly installed president of Paramount Pictures International, who brought footage from a host of upcoming releases through the end of 2012 and into 2013.

Applause frequently rang out in the massive and packed auditorium, which until a week ago didn't have seating, a stage or any sort of screen let alone a sound system, for several of Paramount's upcoming releases...

If I am not mistaken, Dakota Goyo also does voiceover work in the animated movie.

I saw some photos yesterday of the Jackmans at an airport ( mislabelled as LAX) - I guess the family was going to Europe instead.

Hugh knows how to combine work with pleasure !

Barcelona is a vibrant city with art dominating much of the city attractions, some examples visible on the streets themselves. I am guessing that Hugh took Deb and Oscar there because of their love of the arts. Picasso, Dali, Miro, Gaudi, and many examples of modern art - so much to see, including the very famous Sagrada Familia Church.

It is also a foodie's haven! Hugh will love it!

And it is also a city by the sea, with some beaches to enjoy.

According to Hollywood Reporter, there was also a Universal presentation of the its film slate for the year, including Les Miserables, but no mention if Hugh was also there for the second day. The teaser of Les Miserables was well received.

EDIT: There was a tweet from the father of kid extras at Pinewood that Hugh was there for the Tuesday shoot. It looks like Sasha Baron Cohen was back on set.

'Rise of the Guardians' to Receive Animation Prize at 16th Hollywood Film Awards (Exclusive)

The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively that Peter Ramsey's Rise of the Guardians will be presented with the Hollywood Animation Award, which honors the year's best animated film, at the 16th annual Hollywood Film Awards gala ceremony -- the first awards show of the Oscar season -- on Oct. 22 at the Beverly Hilton.

Several previous recipients of this honor went on to win the best animated feature Oscar, including its last five winners: Ratatouille (2007), Wall-E (2008), Up (2009), Toy Story 3 (2010) and Rango (2011).

Guardians, a 3D computer-animated film from DreamWorks Animation that is sort of an animated version of The Avengers, will be released nationwide by Paramount Pictures on Nov. 21. Based on the Guardians of Childhood book series by William Joyce (who won last year's best animated short Oscar for The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore) and adapted for the screen by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole), it is fundamentally a story of good vs. evil.


The good guys, in this case, are universally familiar characters with unfamiliar personality traits -- among them a badass Santa Claus, voiced by Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin; a sexy Jack Frost, voiced by Chris Pine; and a tough-guy Easter Bunny, voiced by Hugh Jackman -- who come together to defend children from Pitch, voiced by Oscar nominee Jude Law, who is the embodiment of all of their fears. The film was executive produced by Guillermo del Toro (who also worked on the story), scored by Alexandre Desplat (who has received four best original score Oscar noms in the past five years) and features, beginning with its opening shot of a man ascending through water toward light, truly beautiful animation. (A screening of just 25 minutes generated considerable enthusiasm at Cannes.)

Carlos de Abreu, the founder and executive director of the Hollywood Film Festival, said: "It is a great pleasure to recognize Rise of the Guardians as the recipient of our animation award. This piece of avant-garde animation style surely will be another classic for generations to come."

Bill Damaschke, the chief creative officer at DreamWorks Animation, added: "This award is a testament to the vision and dedication of our director Peter Ramsey and our producers Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein, who saw in William Joyce's beautifully written books a truly magical world that he was able to bring to life with the help of David Lindsay-Abaire's wonderful screenplay and, of course, the outstanding work by his entire filmmaking team. We could not be more proud of the movie, or this recognition, and we thank Carlos and the Hollywood Film Awards for this great honor."

Hugh Jackman needs Australian lessons

Hugh Jackman uses the internet to remind himself how to be "more Australian". The 43-year-old actor hails Australia but has become used to adopting different accents for films.

Now the actor is lending his unchanged voice to warrior rabbit Easter Bunny in animated film Rise of the Guardians, which he hasn't found easy. "I had to kind of concentrate on sounding more Australian than I probably am," Hugh confessed to Total Film.
"I went on the internet to remind myself of Aussie phrases. Like in England you have Cockney rhyming slang and we have our version of it: 'chompers', 'ankle-biters'? I thought, 'I'm gonna try as many of these as I can'."

The children's movie is based on the novel by William Joyce and also stars the voices of Isla Fisher as the Tooth Fairy, Alec Baldwin as Santa and Jude Law as Bogeyman.

Hugh, who has two adopted children, Oscar and Ava, explained why he was drawn to the movie. "Most people think of the Easter Bunny as a cute little fluffy bunny, but our bunny is a little gruff? I thought that was funny," he revealed.

It is probably just a matter of getting used to how Aussies talk

I remember when I was still working, one of my responsibilities was entertaining meetings with foreign fund managers who spoke different kinds of English - American English ( East Coast/Midwestern/West Coast/Southern?), English English, Scot-accented English, Swiss-accented English, French-accented English, Chinese-accented English and Australian-accented English.

American English was a little easier because of the impact of Hollywood and TV - and I did go to school in New England and worked in NYC.

But - LOL - two of the things I did to help my education was to watch BBC for its proper received pronunciation and to watch NEIGHBORS for the Aussie tones ;D

I was in Sydney in 2006 -- but by that time, a certain Aussie had already gotten us used to his manner of speaking
