William Morris Endeavor accepted Hugh Jackman's philanthropic challenge

The staff and chief executives of WME completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Tuesday.



After being challenged to philanthropic action by their client Hugh Jackman, along with the cast of the upcoming film “Pan,” CEOs Patrick Whitesell and Ari Emanuel led the talent agency's employees outside and proceeded to get wet.

As per the rules of the challenge, Whitesell and Emanuel nominated three other CEOs to follow in their soaking-wet footsteps: CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapin and Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara. The video, which you can see here, gave them 24 hours to either take the freezing-cold plunge themselves or make a donation to combat ALS.

As TheWrap previously reported, the popularity of these challenges has helped raise both millions of dollars in charitable donations and also awareness to help fight Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

“We have never seen anything like this in the history of the disease,” said Barbara Newhouse, president and chief executive of the ALS Association. “We couldn't be more thrilled with the level of compassion, generosity and sense of humor that people are exhibiting as they take part in this impactful viral initiative.”

The Hollywood Reporter reports that 300 ( half of employee total in LA office) staff joined Whitesell and Emmanuel in their challenge acceptance --

Jay Z, Jackman, Keys Set for Global Citizen Festival

More big names have been added to the Global Citizen Festival, the live concert set for Saturday, September 27 in New York City’s Central Park.

Alicia Keys will give a special performance and Sting will take the stage with No Doubt.


The singers will join previously announced acts and presenters including Jay Z, Carrie Underwood, Fun., Tiesto, The Roots, Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde and host Hugh Jackman, as well as world leaders and more than 60,000 attendees at the third annual festival, which aims to end extreme poverty in the world by 2030.

Concert coverage begins Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. ET on MSNBC and msnbc.com. The event will stream live on NBCNews.com and Today.com starting at 4 p.m. ET. A primetime concert special will air at 9 p.m. on NBC, hosted by Tamron Hall.


Over the past two years the festival has secured more than $1.3 billion in new funding and 35 commitments from world leaders to benefit the global poor, according to event organizers.

"Change only takes place when and where there is action," Jay-Z said in a statement. "I’m joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions — whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves — the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible."

Glad I had both TV and streaming versions going. If you saw only the TV coverage, you missed Hugh in the streaming portion first doing what looked like a pre-taped bit with Deb (yeah, Hugh, you're just like Jay-Z), and then live on stage asking the asking the audience to download a sign "I Am Busy Giving a S**t" and place it on their bathroom doors, LOL. All in the cause of promoting sanitation worldwide, of course.

By the way, his neck and arms are humungous, and he looked absolutely gorgeous.
