This has to be a record
Reading through the many tweets, especially from different people who have gotten tickets from the presale, one can feel the underlying regard the Aussies have for their favorite son. It is sentimental, emotional, proud...and one can probably appreciate the depth of that regard only if one is an Aussie!
There is a special bond between Hugh and his people and I am truly glad for him that this concert series has been put together with his fellow Aussies in mind. He calls the Broadway stint as a tryout, from an out-of-town place, and there is a real ring of sincerity in it. He wants this special show for his special Aussie countrymen! It is not just the prospect of anticipating a great evening of entertainment ( as we probably non-Aussies feel when we come to see him perform)... but more of spreading out a warm welcome-home to someone whose ties to his homeland remain strong and devoted!
Coming from the outside ( and I felt a little this way when I saw him there in 2006) -- I felt almost like an intruder on a private joke ... Hope the concerts are so successful that the memories of his Aussie crowds will be etched into Hugh's heart forever!
Break a leg, Hugh

A friend Down Under sent this link. I'm not sure if it's redundant - I haven't had time to listen to them all. Podcast? Radio interview? ["Yesterday" there, today here - - ] Alan Jones breakfast show 27 Aug

From the interviews, it sounds as though the Aboriginal segment will be somewhat expanded for this version of the show. I hope those lucky enough to be able to go will fill us all in on the new bits.

That's what he seems to indicate! I imagine that a lot more members of the aboriginal community or other manifestations of their cultural heritage would appear in the show. It wouldn't seem as if he is just paying lip service to the stolen generation because he did stay in such a community in his youth...and as he says that was when he felt he started to grow up! I'm still trying to imagine how he can fill the stage with 150 people ( apart from the very likely large contingent of the Qantas chorus) I wonder if he will recreate the large singing and dancing troupe he worked with for the 2006 arena tour, for the Peter Allen segment? And maybe big-screen-size dancing contigents for the movie musicals? I do hope friends like Russell and Nicole will be in town to lend a helping hand. And old friends from shows like Beauty and the Beast & Sunset Boulevard and from his early films will also show up. I would also like to see Baz Luhrmann among the audience ( although he seems to have already established permanent residence in New York). His AUSTRALIA did a lot towards bringing attention to the aboriginal community's role in Australian society. Jo

New magazine alert for Aussie readers --
I wonder when Hugh will be recognized as Australian of The Year ?
His professional success and reputation on many mediums across the world (including special performances for his countrymen), his advocacies (Global Poverty Program, Fair Trade Coffee, Fight Cancer Foundation and various other advocaties/charities he supports), his overall reputation for bringing the name of Australians into good repute ( in these days of Nick Kyrgios and Mel Gibson smiley-rolleyes010 ), and his being a model husband and father --- what more can anyone want from an ideal person?

I think he's also mentioned in one of the interviews that there might be a place in the show for this photo of " Mini-me"

I think the pose was also because he was the one holding the ball, although he could just have held it in a less showy style Jo

Tried to get seats in the presale. Wasn't on the second when they went on sale, but when we tried, the tickets were terrible. They were in the nose bleed section. My son tells me presale tickets aren't usually that good. They just release a couple of good ones and hold back. I hope he's right. We're trying to get tickets Sunday, hopefully they will be better. What a wonderful excuse to head for Australia. Buying tickets with no airplane flight. What's wrong with this picture? Is anyone else game?
