I know Schoenfeld was anxious for HJ to do an earlier Newley-Bricusse musical, STOP THE WORLD, I WANT TO GET OFF. Did he also push for ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT?
Barbra's been releasing videos of her duets. I hope one will be forthcoming featuring HJ, too.

Any moment now LOL - just kidding. The concert series starts on August 2 in LA...and reaches Brooklyn on August 11 & 13. She has all that time to release a video clip with Hugh. Hope so! Jo

She was interviewed last night on E.T. and talked about the album, also the correct pronunciation of her last name (Strei' sand, not Strei' zand!) Lol! Luckily the interviewer got it right!

James Mangold tweets STAR WARS director Rian Johnson ( who has just wrapped filming the next SW sequel) that he needs only 3 more weeks to wrap filming for WOLVERINE 3 ( See Wolverine 3 thread for twitter conversation ) --
If JM can complete in 3 weeks ( that would be by week ending August 14 -- does that mean there is a slight chance Hugh might even make it to the Barbra S concert (schedule for the Brooklyn leg is August 11 & 13)?
Or will Hugh be needed for the final filming days ( and assuming everything goes on schedule) ? Earlier media reports indicated a filming wrap date of August 19.

At last! I found it! It is audio only -- but it is perfect that way. It borrows the context of the musical from where it came from (SMILE) ...and even features the dialog that precedes the duet. It is a beautiful duet ballad. *Hugh goes toe to toe with Barbra's renowned musical gift ... and it's equal musical footing, partners, NOT a case of one being supportive to the other's soaring notes -- they sound equally melodious and dramatic ( yes, it is important to understand the setting of the duet).*Barbra, on a rare occasion, does not go on any note-bending moments ( as she is won't to do)...and one is reminded of old-fashioned musical duets from the golden days of musicals. *They are excellent together as duet partners! They could have sung all the songs for the album together Loving it *love* Jo

What a pity they were never Norma Desmond and Joe Gillis in the film adaptation of SUNSET BOULEVARD! Although ANY MOMENT NOW reminded me of Hugh and his co-star singing a favorite duet from the show called TOO MUCH IN LOVE TO CARE. Check this out -- Hugh's duet with Catherine Porter ( as Joe and Betty, not Norma) from the Melbourne production of SUNSET BOULEVARD. The actual singing starts at around 1'00" for TOO MUCH IN LOVE TO CARE. It could just be me -- but I find a bit of a parallel, especially towards the end, of the duet part with Barbra www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4KsSYuJz_cJo

I wonder if there is word on whether Hugh can make it to the Brooklyn concerts or not? I am not optimistic about that -- given that he might be wrapping the filming of WOLVERINE 3 that same weekend or the next.

Great sleuthing work finding it, Jo. They both sound terrific. Now, keep your fingers crossed as I'm going to the concert on the 13th! Please, please, please, Hugh, find a way to be there!!! I am not optimistic about that -- given that he might be wrapping the filming of WOLVERINE 3 that same weekend or the next. Jo

Jo, it is NOT just audio. After the YouTube audio, if you let the next selection automatically play, it's background on the song by both HJ and Barbra and scenes of both their singing parts of that lovely song.

Merci, merci I was getting another clip after the audio -- I had to look for the one with Hugh's image on it - LOL! Hey, it was the first song she thought of including in the album -- I am not surprised because when she first heard the song, as it was first composed, she was very struck by it and she said she was going to reserve it for the future when she records a duets album of theatre songs. This is very addictive -- I have listened to it and watched the video already a number of times. Such a lovely song, beautifully sung by two very well-blended voices! And you can feel the longings and heartfelt emotions. This is the kind of music that should hit the charts...not the current pop sensations ( sorry!). Bravo, Barbra and Hugh Jo

Sounds great! It's from a show I knew nothing about, and that's a first, ha ha! Marvin Hamlisch wrote another gem that's like a brand new song. Careful everyone. Any moment now, it might get stuck in your head.

The more I listen to the song, the more it nestles comfortably into my brain. But the above story got the origin wrong: it's not from the short-lived Bway musical SMILE but from a never-produced version that had a different score.
Entertainment Tonight ran a feature on the duet. Interestingly, I wonder if the clip shown of Hugh singing was from an earlier take; the way he sings the word "city" in that clip sounds, at least to my ears, different than on the finished recording -- the short i sound, specifically. He sounded more American on the TV clip, slightly less so on the final audio.
But whatever, he sounds beautiful.

Interesting feedback comment -- As if this is part of a cast recording, but even more than that, it paints a picture of the dramatic context of why they are expressing themselves through song. Very much from musical theatre! Is there a similarity to the intent of the TWIN SOLILOQUYS from SOUTH PACIFIC?Broadway.com, in their brief commentary, wishes to see Hugh and Barbra back on stage together Jo
