Did you get a chance to watch the livestream? It was very clear, with just very few glitches. If you missed it, I think you can still watch it on demand.
Some observations --
*Hugh still had a little plaster on his nose - hope it is healing well. He wears even smart casual very well. But of course it was Sir Patrick who looked elegant. It was all camera flashing and photgraphers asking them to pose in every angle and every grouping.
*During the photo call, it was such a pleasure to see Hugh acting very solicitous about Dafne ( although they did high-5's towards the end). Dafne was such an adorable young girl -- so far away from the image of the angry young fighter. She is also a very beautiful child.
*During the press conference, James Mangold made it a point to emphasize that they had the full studio support all the way. Emma Watts ( now Vice Chairman) was there. I think this was an attempt to correct the misimpression that Stacey Snider's words might have come across re the studio's reluctance to veer away from the typical superhero genre.
*Producers Hutch Parker ( whom Hugh acknowleged as having been with the franchise since Day 1 when he himself came into the ensemble being star struck with Patrick and Ian) and Simon Kinberg were also there, I guess to add credence to the fact that all this is as much a FOX initiative, even if basically created by the vision of Mangold and Jackman and supported by the producers.
*Hugh made it to point to say that even if he will be leaving the role after LOGAN, that the role of Wolverine will always be a part of him! And no -- he has no interest in starring in a Wolverine musical, even if that comes to pass.
*Mangold also further talked about the influences from the past on the concept of the movie. He can be such an articulate man when talking of creative visions.
*it is a little disappointing that the questions asked by the international media did not really encourage deeper discussions...plus the session was cut short after half an hour. There was one question asked by a man who said he was only 10 when the first XMen movie came -- this was about what and how external changes were adapted in the philosophy of the franchise as the 17 years rolled by. Too bad it was not discussed thoroughly.

Variety covers the press conference --
Btw, the world premiere is still to come in about two hours time ( red carpet and actual screening).
Either Variety based their report only on the live stream or they thought the press screening is the public screening. The embargo is lifted only after 30 minutes from the start of screening of the world premiere.

Hugh said that Dafne will always be *pet name* ( which I could not readily catch) to him Patrick also recalled that when they were not filming inside the car ...that the three would sing Sometimes people forget that Dafne is half Brit, so the three do share a common heritage, too! Jo

That Berlinale red carpet was a high-decibel madhouse. They must go a little deaf after all that screaming from photographers and fans on the sidelines. The press conference was informative. The creatives (Mangold et. al.) as well as Patrick S. and Hugh were quite eloquent. Good to see Brian ever-ready with his protective hand hovering around HJ's back. Thanks, Jo, for the link.

Yes, that was some madhouse -- but the fans seemed respectful even if excited. There were two homemade signs asking Hugh and Patrick to come over for fan selfies.
*Hugh was escorted by Brian and Michelle. He immediately went to the fans barricade and started, ready with his sign pen, to sign stuff and to take endless selfies. Looks at the fans in the eye. Kept coming back. He also went to the media barricade back and forth and back.
*Patrick came with his wife, and also started signing including photos of Captain Picard!
*Dafne, looking poised for one so young ( no girlie type dress but an elegant outfit in a nice shade of navy , with gold shoes) seemed to have her Mom at her side. She also signed autographs...and when she had to sign her portrait which was hung rather high, jumped to the railing like the gymnast that she is -- and readily affixed her " Dafne"
*James was exuberant...he seemed on a high.
*The Fox suits were there -- Hutch Parker, Simon Kinberg, and a lady who seemed to be a little shy because she kept being eased out of the photo frame. LOL - the tall blonde lady was Emma Watts, only Boss # 2 at Fox Studios now!! Woman power for you!
No female celebs posing here and there, usually thinly-clad for the cold weather, and no one asking "Who are you wearing?"
They were promptly ushered in...but they did a lot of red carpet PR before doing so!
What struck me most was the camaraderie of the group ( including the suits) and no one trying to outdo each other for public attention, and they were constantly laughing as if they always share a private joke. Hugh and Patrick both solicitous of Dafne ( she had another high-5 with "Daddy" Logan!).
Okay... now we wait for the reviews to be rescued from the dreaded EMBARGO! LOL!
Reviews away!!!!!!!

All three highly-praised for their portrayals! All impeccably dressed, too! If I were the SAG ( Screen Actors Guild), I would consider this trio ( or even expanded to include Holbrook, Grant, and Merchant) for BEST ENSEMBLE award for next year!

A brief glimpse of the ceremonies inside the cinema, via a short video clip. Too bad it was cut short after Hugh has said only a few words. He did say it was an emotional night for him ( you can almost hear the break in his voice) as this must be goodbye to the role! Please scroll down -- twitter.com/MoobysEs/media

Since when did the reviews of a movie became an item of interest so much so that two trade paper ( Variety and The Hollywood Reporter) created features about them, together with a pop culture site ( Entertainment Weekly) on its own summary of reviews for the movie. Yey, that can only mean good things in terms of further promoting the movie LOGAN because its early reviews (very positive) were written about! variety.com/2017/film/news/logan-review-round-up-1201991697/ew.com/movies/2017/02/17/logan-critics-review-roundup/?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitterWhen I look back, I think many probably did not really believe how serious Hugh was when he said they will not start any flming until they get the script 100% right! It was practically at the very last deadline to start filming ( so they can make the previously-announced March 3, 2017 release date) when the cameras started rolling - was that May 2016? A tribute to Hugh's multi-tasking skills at the time, because GREATEST SHOWMAN was also taking shape after that February workshop for Fox execs and after the greenlight for the musical was secured after a long, long wait ( the project was first set up in 2009). On an aside, I was skeptical about why FOX would give his last solo movie a late Winter release date when superhero movies were shown generally in late spring to late summer! I thought the project was being considered only as a filler project to make sure that they fulfill the one movie every 3 years for the franchise or the film rights revert back to Marvel. And when he first sent out that ONE LAST TIME! tweet, many only half-believed that he was not yet sure how they were going to approach the whole project, even if he had invited fans for inputs when he tweeted the ominous message! It seems Hugh was still unsure how his Wolverine valedictory would shape up! Maybe he had already collected much of his thoughts by the time he woke up one 4:00 o'clock morning to dictate a voice memo re the outlines of the last journey of Wolverine! Now, we'll have to see how the positive critical reception will translate to box office appeal! Jo
